This is what happened after Gene Stallings stepped down in 96. I think they went through 5 coaches in 10 years if I remember correctly. Saban is 68 years old (I think). 1 more national championship and he will pass the Bear. He will retire and bama fans will cry like babies. They will go through what vol fans are going through now. Saban set the bar high for the next bama coach. He is a once in a lifetime coach much like SpurrierThis is spot on. No one can replicate what he has done. I think and hope they get trapped in a situation where no one is good enough and they keep firing them, over and over, kinda like us.
Yup. When Pat retired, we didn't have our pick of the litter. We got someone who was willing to take the job. Not many wanted to follow in the best to ever do it's footsteps. I imagine that it will be the same at Bama. It took a long time after the Bear for Bama to get someone willing to step into the expectations. The bar had to be reset again for Saban to be able to take it.1) nobody really thinks dabo is going to leave Clemson or that someone would pay the 50 million dollar buyout anyway. Cause you'd have to pay hum and his staff 20 million a year anyway, they make 17 now
2) nobody wants to follow Saban. There is no upside. You will, at best, be equal to him.
