Volquest.com is reporting that University of Tennessee center Josh McNeil will have surgery on his wrist this week, and that surgery combined with a knee injury could end McNeil's UT career.

McNeil has a 35 game starting streak at center, but has been pushed for the spot by walk-on Cody Sullins ever since Lane Kiffin arrived. Many felt Sullins had won the spot, and he is expected to be named the starter this week according to Volquest.

McNeil has battled several knee injuries, and apparently suffered this latest setback more than a week ago.

This really sucks. Sullins is doing well, but who is behind him?

Well, there is always the possibility of a medical redshirt for a 6th year. We could use the help on the o-line next year.

Isn't next year McNeil's fifth? That would mean no need for a medical redshirt. Sullins is a senior so McNeil could definitely help out next year if the staff wants him back.

Sullins seems like he is more than capable in handling the center position.

With that said, I feel bad for McNeil as he has done a lot for the football program in his time at UT and hopefully he will be back next year.

Josh played as a true freshman as I recall so he could use this year as his redshirt.
We will be okay. The Sullins brothers will handle the center position just fine.
If needed McClendon can play there as well.
Get well Josh!

That is a shame. I hate that for the big guy. Hope he can heal up as quick as possbile. If not, he did a helluva job for the Vols. Plus, his cool points went through the roof with that article.

im tired of this. it seems that someone new drops everyday. its almost worth not having practice until sept 5 because we all know that its not over...

we are destined to have something else happen.
