Sounds like it was truly a good deal.
Deal being both sides walk away happy.
UT got some assurance Heupel is sticking around and will get some money if he does leave.
Heupel gets a favorable buyout structure with the dates and decreases over the next few years...I mean honestly how bad would this year have to be for him to be dismissed by December 15th.

We could have an FSU tank and we wouldn't get rid of him this season

If Josh wanted to go back to Oklahoma he would have done been gone. Only ones that bring this up is the fans. I do not know what else Josh has to do to convince the Vol fans he is not going anywhere.
He was coming off a 7-6 year 1 when OU last had a vacancy. He has won 30 games in 3 years since then, making him a more attractive option. Idk if he would leave or not, but that reasoning you gave doesn’t really check out.

They don’t know people, they just worry.

There’s no way he ever goes back there, unless Tennessees fanbase runs him off.

Then maybe not even then. They really did screw him over.

Tells me his agent has been floating his name around and White was forced to lock him up for a while.

That’s what good agents do

I seriously doubt this is the case. He made the playoffs last season. This was a warranted move based on that. It also shows the University’s continued commitment to him if a school like OU kicks the tires.

I can’t see any circumstance leading to that unless he went full Pruitt, Jones or Dooley and flat-out quit on the team. And I’ve seen nothing in his makeup that makes me think that is remotely possible.

If he can get over the Georgia hump, the sky is the limit.!
I think we get over the georgia hump in 2027. Assuming we still play them that year at home. If we don't then, I don't think he'll be able to. Year 2 Faizon/3 GMac, a lot of these 5 stars matured and developed, probably our highest bluechip ratio in a long time.
