I'm likely one of the few who thinks there was never a qb competition. I believe JA was brought in for this very reason, it was likely his job to lose. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.
That may be true. If Heupel would have named him QB1 at the start of fall practice, Merklinger may have bolted. We need him too. I'm not saying the QB competition isn't legitimate. I'm saying that managing his resources is imperative.
Regardless, Heupel knows what he is doing

He definitely had the look of a dad who has more to say to his son when he cools off. I remember not being allowed to go into 4th gear on the four-wheeler at 8 years old and my dad saying that there were repercussions if I did. By the sound of the motor my dad would be waiting on the back porch to remind me. Messed up many times but for good reason pops would remind me with many variations of correction. Hype definitely has more to say to someone with that look. Go VOLS!
I just turned the throttle screw down on ours until it was the equivalent of a power wheels lol.

imo not really open, Mac from what I have read has outperformed both the other two and not given a chance with the ones. This is just from what I have read. The competition has been from Merk and Ja
On Friday Swain said GMac is the best QB but is too light to take hits. He thinks Joey sewed up the job in this last scrimmage and played well including no interceptions
