NFL draft: Is Cal QB Jared Goff still considered a top pick if he declares? | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo Sports

In another thread, there were some doubting whether Dobbs has an NFL future as a QB.

Well according to at least one expert, in the link above, Josh is currently the #7 QB prospect in the 2016 draft. He's ahead of guys like Cody Kessler (USC) and Kevin Hogan (Stanford). He's also the highest ranked SEC QB. Interestingly Dak Prescott isn't in the top 10. Neither is heisman contender Trevone Boykin.

Just goes to show Dobbs NFL prospects are a lot brighter than many on here believe.

That's because Dobbs graduates next year and Prescott this year.

Connor Cook is also a senior. The list isn't for the 2017 draft. Its for 2016 and includes both juniors and seniors.

Prescott is Tim Tebow 2.0 as a NFL prospect. His NFL draft stock is not very high. Dobbs on the other hand had at least one draft scout (Bucky Brooks) thinking late last year that he could be a franchise QB

I don't want Dobbs to go to the NFL. I want him to fly his specially designed rocket plane to the moon and paste a moon size sign that reads BUCK FAMA (only spelled correctly)

Which still isn't saying a whole lot. You have 1 guy stating he's the 7th best prospect, which can mean anything. That might mean he's a 6th or 7th round pick.

I like Dobbs but he's not going to be an NFL QB.

You realize Tebow was drafted in the first round, right?

Why are you so mad?

I post an article of our QB getting some NFL draft shine after half a season as the full-time starter and you make declarative statements about him never being an NFL QB.

You would think the school's starting QB getting any NFL pub would be cause for celebration?

By the only team that would take him in the first. There's a reason he lasted less than 5 years in the NFL. Other than Josh McDaniel no one else was gonna draft him that high.

I don't see Josh McDaniel running another team right now. So I doubt another Tebow goes in the first.

Why are you trying so hard to make it sound like Dobbs is suddenly a hot draft pick? You're picking out one guy out of tons of scouts who's put him in the bottom half of his top 10 and acting like you're proving everyone wrong.

As I said, I don't think you understand how all this works.

And yet he was taken in the first; spin it however you want, but if you're going to declare someone else "Tebow 2.0" and compare his draft status to Tebow, it's wise to actually know where he was drafted.

If Jonathan "Worm Burner" Crompton and Matt "I Didn't See Dem Blitzing" Simms can make it to the next level, I'm sure Dobbs can. Even Bray hasn't really done anything. Ainge was the last QB who was in the league for an extended period besides Peyton. But you rag on the other QB that has done what no other Vol and only one other QB has done more than twice. 300/100 is like the 40/40 in Baseball.

As a fan base, if you want to call us that, completely destroy every QB we have. No QB will ever meet this lunch mobs expectations.

Dude! I know you've got an investment in this with your user name, but you're like the love-starved nerd who proposes to the first chick that'll hold his hand! Go easy! Let it play out! :pinch:

Let's just say, at this point, I wouldn't want him playing for my favorite NFL team. He's got a looooooooooong ways to go to be an NFL player.

Nice college QB, though.

Well it isn't just one. There was this article last year.

Scout's Take: Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs an emerging superstar - NFL.com

Like I said in the OP. I was only countering the theme that Dobbs has NO NFL FUTURE.

He must have at least some NFL potential if scouts are talking about him as a legit prospect.

If the next level is the CFL, then you're correct about Crompton. He never made an NFL roster. And Simms has been in the NFL longer than Ainge was.

Also, pointing out that Dobbs probably won't be an NFL QB isn't "ragging" on him, it's reality. Pointing that out takes nothing away from his college accomplishments.
