Hue Jackson stating what we already knew:

“Josh was able to handle the information, first and foremost, I think he’s really intelligent and he’s able to take things from the classroom to the field. Then, just his physical skills, I didn’t know he could throw the ball as well as he can."

Josh is making us all PROUD!!!

Thought he would improve his draft stock at the senior bowl. He may be the surprise of the draft and someone takes him Round 2. He's a steal for someone in the later rounds.

Happy birthday, young man! You will always be one of my favorite Vols. Light them up this weekend.

First off, I've always been a sunshine pumper here on VN. But ,as much as JD has shown out and the praise he's getting, I have to wonder if our coach really does have what it takes to develop the talent we're getting. Not throwing away my sunshine card away yet, lol, but I'll be interested in what we see out of JG, since he is supposed to have even better skills than JD when he came in.

This makes no sense. Josh Dobbs didnt suddenly develop over the course of 4 weeks. If he's improving his draft stock at the senior bowl, that means our coaches developed him over the course of his career.

That being said, I still dont think he can make the throws to be an NFL qb.

Dobbs is still a young guy. If he follows the normal trajectory of most successful NFL QBs, we will see him get better over his first few seasons in the league. Doesn't mean he should have been playing at that level in college, no matter who his coach was. And don't forget he got a lot of 1:1 coaching and mentoring from no less than the GOAT, Peyton Manning.

No, if the Senior Bowl coaches and media are surprised, it's a lot more likely that they just haven't seen Josh play as much as we have. It's a lot more likely that the Josh they're impressed with is the same one a lot of us have been complaining about for the past few seasons.

I can agree with this. The question then becomes: do we have a coach who can develop (and keep healthy) a consistent group of 5 men on the OL?

Years 2014, 2015 suggest the coach can't develop them to be consistent blockers (but there were good signs, once the freshmen came in around the AL game '15), and 2016 suggests the coach can't keep a consistent group fully healthy (but there was improvement, if sacks are the qualifier).

NP couldn't handle a FL rush when there's no one blocking, but he's done pretty well at Pitt. Can't wait to see how well Dobbs can perform with his South OL.

Come on Butch Jones, let's see what you can do as a 5th year senior ! Go VOLS and Go Big Orange

Who do you think developed Dobbs? Himself? The Browns staff in a week? Or his coaches at UT over four years?

Will be fun to see what he can do when he has time and is not running for his life. Also, will be different running a pro style offense. It will be very different. His legs might be fresher without having to run all the time. That alone might help him improve passing efforts. I could see how that would be beneficial. I will say that I don't know if he can. That is different than you saying you don't think he can. Either way, we will see. Best of luck to the man.

What we should realize as vol fans (apparently some do not) is that this will be the best o line Dobbs has ever had. He broke records here without ever having a great line in front of him. Imagine his stats if he even had a competent line for his whole career.

What he did against Florida the last 2 years with their d-line was nothing short of a miracle.

Like you I'm excited to see what he does with competent blocking and some great wide receivers.
