Actually he is thinking ahead. He is saying this to give us even more incentive to grind their ass.

He knows we could be an early season sleeper. We will probably be over ranked if we start 4-0. It will though, keep us relevant for the playoffs. I think a 9-3 season with an early 4-0 start could keep us relevant the rest of the season on the playoff talk.

I don’t understand how he doesn’t pick Kentucky and Youngstown State. That’s actually a very interesting game.

Youngstown State is a solid FCS program. Even at 8-5 last year, their losses were respectable and they had some good wins.

Meanwhile Kentucky has a new everything all the way down to the water boy, and Youngstown has already played a warm up game. That’s your upset alert.

UK is a 23.5 point favorite, so yeah that would be in the group talked about except for the fact that UK isn't a Top 25 team.
The conversation was Top 25 teams with massive odd lines this week...

Michigan is a 27.5 point favorite over Western Michigan but ranked higher than UT.
So, yeah, proverbial "gun to the head" had to pick a game for an upset out of that group, it's likely UT vs Furman.

I'm a little surprised he didn't at least mention Indiana V. North Texas. Indiana has to replace a lot and Tayven Jackson (Formerly from UT and IU) is starting for UNT. Kirk is hard nosed and should have his team ready but last season was magical and this one could be just as un-magical.....

Only thing IU has to replace is the QB, a WR, and 1 or 2 defenders.

Who did they get...a QB with A TON of D1 experience, a WR that is plug and play to the guy they lost in the draft, and 2 defenders out of the portal from Oregon and Penn St.
Not just chugging the Kool-Aid in these parts, but a lot of people are looking past IU.

If Josh Hoover has the kind of turn around Fernando Mendoza did, he will be talked about for the Heisman and IU will be playing for another title.

EXACTLY - UK is ONLY a 23.5 point favorite over Youngstown State....the discussion is Top 25 teams with massive odds lines this weekend.
It would not surprise me at all if Youngstown State wins or is up in the 4th quarter.

Obviously he didn’t predict it but the fact he is a Vandy grad definitely had something to do with that he picked us!
