Jones recruiting history.

I honestly think that he hasn't had that problem at his last 2 stops. But I also think that he's a pretty good talent evaluator (find players early) and salesman (get them committed early) that he might not have that issue here either. But if he does, I'm sure he will do what's best for the team in his opinion.

CBJ recruiting at previous schools is like Chuck Norris using medieval weapons.

CBJ recruiting at UT is like Chuck Norris using the latest military weaponry.

At least that's what it seems like so far...

Different recruiting resources at UT compared to what he had at Cincy. Resources at UT allow him to tap into areas that while at Cincy a 4 to 5 star guy would not venture to glance at. What I see is he and his staff are selling the UT brand better than the last 2 clowns. Don't know about you, but I am quietly optimistic about this direction.:salute:

Ron

Do you expect him to make hard decisions like this late in the timeline??

He will have to make some hard decisions down the road, faster this class fill up the harder it will get for coach, i expect him to come threw very well, may make a mistake or two but thats part of it, learning on the fly,, he has done this before but not at this level rate A+ so far thats all i can go isnt it nothing higher is there maybe A++.:)

You can't compare UT recruiting to Cincy or CMU. Elite level or even average 2/3 stars don't commit early to Cincy or CMU and begin recruiting hardcore using twitter. UT is a different animal with much more to sell.

Butch has been preparing for a big boy job like this for awhile now and seems to have been extremely prepared and hit the ground running. It's like he knew exactly what needed to be done from day 1 and he's been doing it.

I don't think any of our current commitments are guys he'll ask to look around. No diamond in the rough Dooley types.

You are right on with this post. Jones didn't come in thinking he was going to recruit at the SEC level on his reputation. Instead he has done what he has always done... make the most of the strengths he has to work with. Note how he is playing to all the strengths available to him... the University (hosting 50-60 recruits at time), the tradition, the facilities, former players, Twitter, and even all the stationery once going unused but now going out 102 letters to a recruit at a time.

I thought this thread was going to be about the legacy players and their predecessors.

The fact that we are competing and gaining commitments for top recruits against other top programs in the SEC speak volumes

This

If he ever turned anyone away at cinci or cmu I would be very surprised, but he seems like the type of guy that if a position got full, kinda like we may at wr and rb, he would honor who committed first and turn down the later commit.
Can you blame him if this happened of course you want all the talent you can but if five rbs wanted to commit this class and we already have enough you can't burn those scholy's on players that will never pay when you have so much need at ol,dl.

My quiet optimism is because they have yet to play a game. So far it's just better recruiting than what we have seen in a long time. Can it equate to better success on the field? That is what I quietly await.
