For those of you that remember the Majors era, this looks a lot like the teams he put on the field in the '80's and early 90's.

We often had the personnel but lost to inferior teams by being stubborn and unwilling to take a few chances.

I had a bed feeling about this game. After getting humiliated at home vs. Bubba and knowing that Muschamp has had his way with us coupled with the fact that the offense has never really had an identity I smelled this a mile away.

So what does this mean? Well if history is any indication it means many seasons like this are in the cards. Some great wins by big plays and some intolerable losses by being unfocused and unimaginative.

It took Majors 8 years to win the SEC. I doubt Jones has that kind of time in the modern game.

Majors had a national championship at PITT so he earned extra time. Butch Jones won a couple of conference titles in lesser conferences riding Brian Kellys coat tail.

Debord = Clawfense 2.0

And again, this is Butch Jones' offense. Debord is running EXACTLY what Jones wants and if he fired Debord today, you'd want the next guy fired inside of 3 weeks and would be complaining about the EXACT same things because you'd see the EXACT same things with this offense.

Majors' first 4 seasons at Tennessee was actually worst than Battle's last 4 thst got him fired. It took Johnny 5 years just to get above .500, and it took him 9 years to "develop" a top 10 team.

I understand the comparison.

I'm thinking Zook 2.0.

the good thing about this, if true, is that Zook actually amassed some pretty good talent that was there when Meyer took over.

Of course 3-star Butch hasn't amassed nearly the amount of talent that is needed but we are better roster wise than we were after Dooley.

So you understand that CBJ will eventually get the players and staff right?

I would compare CBJ 1st 4 yrs more to Fulmer who took over with a ton of talent and Heath Shuler and Peyton Manning! Yea you remember the guy who couldn't beat Florida and lost to Memphis with PM as QB.

Get real people!

You didn't see this keystone cops offense under Majors. Butch couldn't hold Majors jock.

Exactly. At one point I think Majors had 4 assistants on one staff who went on to be Head Coaches. Majors found Cut coaching in HS. Butch Jones "found" Debord and Azzani lol.

Hey now DeBored was coaching a women's swim team when butch found him.

Majors won a NC, 3 SEC titles, maybe should have won the National Championship in 1989 with an 11-1 record and still believe we would have went undefeated if Cobb could have stayed away from the drugs and hadn't been kicked off the team before bama
