Dooley 15-17
Jones 26-17
I have been critical of Jones and his buddy hiring system, but I'll have to say he has come along way since he got here . His time management is much better, his willingness to slow the offense down much better. I'm very proud of him . He showed how much the Vols mean to him last night and it made me proud!

I think you mean he has had luck on his side these first 5 games. Coaching has still been very questionable. Vols win and that's all that matters in the end. I would not say Butch has improved because I see the same mistakes that cost the vols 3 games last year.

So funny how everybody knows what a coach should do.... and they tell you after they've seen the results.

If so, I would rather be lucky than good.

Call of the night.... Not going for it on 4th down late, and letting his punter and defense go to work.

Meanwhile...Kirby Smart doesn't use timeouts, throws with a true freshman late from his own endzone and abandons the running game.

Unlike Dooley Jones has gone from the most unluckiest guy to the luckiest guy in from one season to the next.

So what's next for Butch? Where does he go from here?

Need to play mistake free football for 4 quarters.....

Kamara doesn't fumble deep in UGA territory and Hurd doesn't fumble into endzone and could have had a more complete game at least scoreboard wise.

Living on the edge eventually will get you.

Hoping they get over these hurdles. Something is happening with all these miracle comebacks just not sure what it is.

CBJ isn't the best coach in America. But he is EXACTLY who our program needs right now. There is something special happening between him and the players. There appears to be genuine affection, support and a brotherhood in our team. Are we lucky? Yeah. However, an older friend of mine used to say, "luck is when preparation meets opportunity".

Yeah butch is lucky, he "drew" his 4 toughest games back to back in 4 straight weeks, has lost 3 of his 4 best defensive players for this 4 game stretch. That's my kind of good luck.

Good teams make their own luck. Last night we made a hell of a play to win the game. That's not luck. Don't try to take it away.

Most of our issues this year have been execution. Dropped passes, fumbles, untimely and uncharacteristic for a CBJ team penalties.

1 play changes opinions dramatically.

This team and coaching has real issues to resolve.

One miraculous play (and I am not religious) and everybody acts like our coaches are geniuses. I'm happy we're undefeated, we've shown resilience (there's that word!) and toughness when we needed it; we've been good in the second half; we've won.

But we've pretty much suxed in the first half of every game this year. We're not going to keep getting away with that. Unless and until we're behind by 14 points, DeBord's play calling is very conservative--two runs and swing pass to Kamara, and we don't move the ball. I can't stand it. Very little creativity. No passes to the TE yesterday; very little downfield passing. And the same no balls play calling on our last offensive series--pretty doing what Jones always does--three runs and punt it to our opponent and hope our defense can keep them from scoring. It backfired--again--we gave up a TD that 99 out of 100 times gets us beat again, but Jones/DeBord saved by Jennings and 20 yards of penalties against georgia. We were lucky. We were lucky against App State--they came within a hair of beating us.

We need to open up the offense more, and we need to get one or two of our linebackers back because we are not all that good without them--pretty average, at best.

It is good to be undefeated--nice to have some karma on our side for a change after several years of bad play and bad luck. But would like to see a little more aggressiveness by our coaches.

winning the game on a desperation heave isn't coaching. the ESPN round table even criticized coaching for letting UGA get back in it. "they should have never been in cover two."

if UT blitzes there, Mason is either forced to scramble or throw it away.
Butch just met a 1st year coach who mismanaged the clock and the game at the end. It's an incredible dramatic win, no doubt. But a lot of the drama was manufactured by sloppy, inconsistent play and wussy play calling when they could have sealed it with a 1st down.

Nailed it.

The lack of TE use is mind boggling.

Luck only applies to how a football bounces.
Many times it bounced to Ga but it also bounced to us.

Look it is amazing that Jones has built a Top 10 program in fine style out of the cesspool he inherited. The Monday morning quarterbacks who think their alternate play calls would have won the game etc. etc. are tiresome with a 5 - 0 team. Fans just witnessed one of the greatest SEC ball games in decades. Just enjoy the victories and remember there is another D-1 opponent and staff competing as hard as they can each week.

The win streak the vols have going is far more about hard work than about luck. The 2016 October schedule is really a gauntlet.

Keeping this team from quitting after digging themselves in holes has been his biggest attribute. Dooley would have this team 2-3 right now at best.

He has cleaned up the game management as well for the most part.

Still think the x's and o's are a little questionable. Wished they would open the play calling up a tick more to begin the games to loosen the defenses up.

Another LUCK post, let me tell you, this is not LOTTO LUCK, this is working hard to develop opportunities to be successful LUCK......this team is in shape, they are playing 4 Qtrs and were able to overcome some missteps......wake up and stop drinking long enough to see a team that is competing up to 4 seconds in the game.......wow, only hope you don't lead or coach, manage other people, because you would be the one that thinks he know what he is talking about, but is full of ..........
