Jonathan Wade to Rams

Figurs was only drafted for STs.

Wade would likely have been drafted higher, but it isn't all the coaching staff's fault. Look at Xavier Carter at LSU(for those who say Wade would have been 1st rounder under Saban). Both were track stars and potentially great football players. Xavier quits football to be track only. Wade quits track and was a first day pick.

Xavier Carter was a WR. The reason I mentioned LSU is because Nick Saban is a great DB coach.

I think he's pretty good, but he made up for his mistakes with his speed. The good thing is that technique and experience can be earned, while speed cant. He probably wont start right away, but eventually will.

I still can see him getting ripped by Monk, but besides that he made us a bunch of ints.

I don't think he's terrible or anything. Look at Gibril Wilson, Rashad Baker, and Julian Battle. All those guys were as good or better at UT and only Julian was drafted as high. I maintain that had Wade run a Damien Hughes-like 40 he wouldn't have been drafted.

Wade wouldn't have been on the UT team if he ran a 4.7. His athletic ability got him on the field. We mainly are out there playing man, and that is what Wade does best. He is no better than an average hitter, needs improvement on his footwork, and can't play zone. But UT, again, mainly (or only) plays man, so many of Wade faults were hidden at UT. That is why any criticism of Wade confuses me. He did well and what he was supposed to at UT. He has some work to do on the NFL level, but he has the tools and mental capacity to do well in any NFL system. Hughes, on the other hand, could only play for a team who plays the cover 2.

Oh and speaking of DBs. I just read about Eric Berry that those who coached him in San Antonio and watched him in that game have said that he may contain the best natural cover skills of any high schooler in the past decade.

Scary stuff...
