After meeting with Pruitt, Majors realizes the first-year UT head coach has the ability to succeed at Tennessee. Majors said he will be around as much as Pruitt wants him to be.

“We had about a 35-minute talk in his office and I told him if there is anything I could do to help without sticking my nose in his business, I would,” Majors said.

If I were Pruitt I wouldn't take an old drunk who still holds a 30 year old grudge over losing his job and rambles over the radio every other week to seriously. At least I wouldn't anyway

Young men make mistakes. Some because they don't seek the advice of their elders or heed the advice that they are given. Self-elimination thinning the herd.

Say what you want, but J Majors was the best fundamental teaching coach and halftime adjustment coach Tenn has had in 40 yrs. Flame away but the man knew/knows fundamentals like very few others.

Keep you politics out of the program Johnny, if you can do that by all means stay. If your going to trash loyal fans take yourself to the house. It's sad that he always rails against the fans. GBO!

Those electing to dis Johnny Majors may die young, or, if lucky, live to be as old as he is, now, and suffer the disdain of the following generations of whippersnappers.

This isn't a story. It's pure desperation for any CFB-related topic during the off-season.

Majors was a very good coach and helped his University at a time of need. He deserves more respect than you and some others on this board give him. If you are lucky, you may reach his age someday and could used a little respect. Well, maybe you won't.

Not a Vols fan, but, Johnny led them to 12 winning seasons during his 16 years as head coach, winning 3 SEC championships 1985, 1989 & 1990, 11 bowl games as head coach & posting a 7-4 record in those games. He was 1985 SEC Coach of the Year. So, do I respect Johnny? Hell, yes.

JP needs to thank Johnny, tell him he can come out to watch practice and that he’ll get him tickets to the games....and then shake his hand, pat him on the back and then show him to the door.

Coach Pruitt probably has respect for his elders and he'll probably even teach respect to his players. Not all fans have respect for their elders.

It's hard to take you seriously. Apparently you don't know your A$$hole from a hole in the ground based on this comment.

Huh? How is that disrespectful it's the truth. He's and old drunk that rambles on the radio and in case you didn't know he said qoute "to hell with the fans" during our **** show of a coaching search we had. I find that disrespectful so to hell with Johnny. He was a good coach and did very good things 30+ years ago and that's it. Sorry

The problem with most of the posters on this site is they are not old enough to have been around during most or all of Major's tenure. All they know is what they here. For his "history" the public has two thought processes on Coach Majors; love him or dislike him. But when you look at his life, from young age to old age "he has always been "Tennessee" there is no doubt of this fact. From losing the "highman award" to this day, his aggressive competitive personality has shown. This as not always stood him in the best light. As some are saying in above post, experience can always help in teaching fine points and just lessons that will confront youngsters along the way to winning and losing. No man as ever been without faults, Coach Majors included. This is what makes older men "wise". If he can share his experiences and those be heeded, he will be a program asset.
