I realize that a strength and conditioning coach does not win or lose games. He does not coach nor does he write up the X's and O'x. However, Johnny Long took over the reigns of the strength and conditioning coach before the 2001 season.

Tennessee has not looked like they have been in the best shape from time to time since then. There has been some big 2nd half meltdowns during his tenure. The LSU win in 2005 is the only great 2nd half of UT football I can remeber(excluding the 2001 season).

We know UT should clean house of the coaching staff. Should they take a look at the strength and condition coach as well?

They got rid of the first problem which was Jimmy Ray Stevens. However, there seems to be a deeper problem. Strength & conditioning seems like a "look for something to blame" answer.

well when you have possession of the ball for 30 seconds in the third quarter, your defense will be a little tired.

2006 UGA, 2006 Alabama, 2004 South Carolina, 2004 Florida, 2007 So Miss etc

I did forget 2006 Georgia. That was a great 2nd half. Sure we won the rest of those games. I don't think in any way, shape or form that they were great 2nd halfs. Things are bad on the hill when UT fans have to pull out So Miss this year as considered to be a "great 2nd half".

I'm just asking this. How often has UT put away a quality team in the 2nd half? How many times have they rallied from 10pts behind at the half to come back for the win??

I cannot deny it seems like a "look for something to blame" answer. I am not putting the blame on it. I just thought it was worth throwing out there. Everything has been running through my mind all day and that was a topic I thought may be worth thoughts.

Yeah, that stat kind of snuck up on me. Everybody is so quick to vilify the defense, but the offense has to stay on the field and help the defense out.

I know; we're all looking for some answers. The first answer is that Florida is better than we are.

Hopefully, we've played the best two teams we'll play -- and on the road no less. Maybe we'll fare a little better against some less dynamic offenses.

I'm hesitant to say this, but I've always thought our offense required top shelf talent to execute. I don't think it works very well when the deck isn't stacked or you don't have Peyton Manning running it.

It's not much of a motivator, but I think you're right. I doubt we're going to see more speed than we've seen so far.

I tend to like his alot as well. The videos with his workouts look great. He gets into the games in a motivating fashion on the sidelines, always waving his white towel. I just threw this topic out there to see how others felt.

Some problems remaining with the schedule, however...

1. BAMA - John Parker Wilson and a good passing game

2. SC - Spurrier, enough said.

3. ARK - McFadden and Jones through our D Line

4. KY - Woodson and that passing attack, a good offense

5. GA - pretty evenly matched

Granted, none of these teams look like FL, but they present some problems if we don't play better.

i just dont like that they beef all the players up the way they do... i mean they put so much weight on these guys that it takes away from their talents speed wise

yeah and we somehow beat the remaining teams and what does that get us....at least 2 more years w/ fulmer....good grief we can't have it both ways...we are going to have to tank to get something new not win 7,8 or 9 games...just beat Bama

The players should not quit. You won't have to worry man this team will drop enough games to do that. They just simply aren't very good.Yeah if we are to have a bad year at least beat bubba.
