Watching the Color Orange with John Ward's commentary and some of his play by play makes me both miss and appreciate the greatness that is John Ward. His delivery, speech, demeanor and presentation were the same in 1998 as it was in 1972 and I would imagine was the same in 1959. This is never seen nowadays and probably never will be. John Ward truly never will be matched.

May the legend that is John Ward always live on. :hi:

GIVE HIM SIX! TOUCHDOWNNNNNNN PEERLESS PRICE!

My favorite John Ward line of all time. I don't know why, just always stuck with me. I edited it out for Justin Hunter this year =p

What a great announcer! He has brought excitement to my years as a Vol fan more times than can be counted. I have shown my boys some of his calls on the Vol videos and they have never heard anything like him. HE IS THE BEST RADIO PLAY BY PLAY ANNOUNCER OF ALL TIME!!!

Missed him by 1 year. Kevin Harlan calling MU games was boss for me. Would have loved to hear JW calling the games now.

When I lived in K-town I had a work shop near my garden...when the VOls were only on the radio, I would crank the stereo in the work shop and tend to the garden. A great way to spend a Saturday...J. Ward calling the game and Bill Anderson providing some awesome (unintended) humor.

I went to high school with Kesslings daughter. Nice girl.

Growing up listening to John Ward was a highlight in my life. When "people" think of Tennessee they think Orange and Rocky Top. When Tennesseans think of Tennessee one of the things you think of is John Ward.

He's at the 25 he's at the 20, 15, he's at the 10 hes at the 5. TOUCHDOWN BIG ORANGE!!!!!

great memories

I always loved the fact that JW was about a half second behind someone running for the endone.

Also, I too would turn the TV down and listen to him

There will never be another John Ward.

Ward was good but he lacked the creativity of Kesling, like "Scooter McFaggdon for 3", or "Jabari Houston into the checkerboards!", or "Kerry Washington for the touchdown!"
