We all do...There will never be another one like him!..We were so lucky to have grown up listening to him on the radio.
Off topic, but if you're still in Miami, I was down your way recently. Had to take my wife to a specialist at the Cleveland clinic, impressive place. I drove to the outskirts of Miami, but nothing more than that.

John Ward WAS Tennessee! He was responsible; More than ANY Coach Or Player for thousands of fans becoming VFLs. John Ward Made Tennessee Football & Basketball real for so many who never even saw the Vols in person. We Saw them through John's eyes and his magnificent descriptions. The years spent with John Ward on Saturdays in the Fall for football games and late evening Basketball Games listening to a fading in and out AM Radio Station 400 miles away live in my memory forever; as the best times in my life. John never knew the impact He had on Us Young People From Tennessee; Nobody could even fathom that phenomenon. Forever Missed; John Ward. Love you like any cherished family Member could ever be loved.

Whoever takes Kesling’s place should bring back, “Give him six.”. If would be wrong if that line was never used by a Vol announcer again. Same goes for, “Bottom.” In basketball

JW was brilliant with his calls, it’s time to honor him by bringing them back.

Anytime the Vols get inside the 20 Neyland should chant quietly, not to disturb our offense, “Give him 6, give him 6 and then erupt when they do.

How about "Tickled the twine" "Bang" "What did He do? He SCORED!" "GOOOODAH!" So Many! I've heard other announcers use BOTTOM and BANG; But no Zing to it. Ward was Pure Perfection. And that's hard to attain. HE DID IT.

I've drove by that place several times...I've lived in Fort Lauderdale for the past 28 years...Just a little less hectic! lol

"A gentleman's gentleman's" not a better way to define John Ward. I would add this: John Ward was all Tennessee. One of the best sports announcers ever. Unlike many announcers of other universities, he, to my memory was never disrespectful to opposing players or coaches (to my knowledge) and was complimentary of both if the situation warranted it. In my humble opinion, the best there ever was and the best there will ever be.
