It's our understanding that Palermo is near if not at the top Derek Dooley and Sal Sunseri's list to become Tennessee's next defensive line coach. Palermo was at MTSU last season before resigning in December to look at other opportunities. He's coached in the NFL and other college programs like Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Miami during his long coaching career.

There's a rumor that he may be named the new DL coach soon.

He will be great at teaching the game but he is older and I am not sure how he will relate to recruits. He has also bounced around a lot except for 8 years in Wisconsin. I prefer Marion Hobby but wouldn't be upset with a real DL coach at UT.

Let go at Middle?

Sounds that way to me.

he left to look for another job. wanted higher profile and when let go by redskins (when Zorn was fired) he took what he could find at the time

Resume sounds extensive and pretty interesting. If he has the same type of recruiting skills the last 3 coaches we hired than I'd say sign him up!

If these two are going to be hired I am an advocate for waiting until after signing day.

Ummm, why would you be against John Palermo being hired. The guy is a great coach. His son is not a candidate.

I highly doubt his son would be a package deal if he were to be offered the DL job. Relax.

John Palermo's resume is pretty impressive IYAM. Clearly the guy can coach.
