Our former defensive coordinator John Jancek has come under scrutiny for alleged abuse/racial insensitivity towards players during his time at Colorado State (he’s no longer coaching). In addition to the head coach Mike Bono, Jancek is the main other coach the report called out.

Mike Bobo accused of racial insensitivity by former players

Not really all that surprising considering how the environment was around the program during Butch Jones tenure. I’m sure he treated his players at UT just as bad.

My biggest issue is that even well after we’ve fired this jerk for his incompetence, we’ve continued the Jancek legacy at UT giving every single one of his kids walk on spots on different vols teams. His third son will be a walk on the football team this year (his first son was a recent grad walk on QB and other son is currently a walk on on the basketball team). Even though he’s a douche I guess he made some good friends in the athletic department and around town.

Alleged is a term that is used when someone has said that someone else has committed a crime or some impropriety. It does not prove guilt or innocence. Putting his kids in this scenario is just absurd. No single person is responsible for another person's actions, kids included. Also, there are MANY instances every single day when people are accused of things that are ultimately proven innocent. Go easy on the kids.

The story doesn't include any specific examples of the alleged racism so I'll reserve judgement. But it probably doesn't matter much. The allegation alone is probably enough to ruin their future career opportunities in the current environment.

He was never fired for incompetence (he was a great dc) and to bring his kids into this makes you the douche

Sounds like the ethical practices of the new coaching staff are not much better. This article talks about Coach Addazio not wanting players to report COVID symptoms.

Let's not re-write history here. At best, he was a decent DC. He was probably half a step below good and nowhere near great.

Agree with you about the kids though

99% of everyone in this world regardless of color could be accused of racism one time or another. Walking on eggshells seems to be the path these days.

He certainly acted like a jerk late in his tenure here...Here he is a married man bringing his girlfriend to a team function at a bowl game in front of his son who was on the team at that time...Pathetic
That is bad.
And embarrassing if that happened.

Guy could coach some defense though!

Had he had the talent that Chavis had to work with here, he would have been regarded as a defensive guru.

We were a top 20 defense before he was let go. Turned AJ into a complete LB and JRM the same. Just didn't have his personal life in check enough

I prefer to wait and see if the allegations are true before I condemn Jancek. Right now they are just allegations. And to my knowledge there have been no such allegations at previous stops that I am aware of.

As long as there are different races, there will be racism. For everyone, not just one race..............forever. If there were only one race, then you would have favoritism or predjudice (SP). People, IMO, should just deal with the problems that enter into their lives and quit being so butthurt. The world will not be without racism no matter how hard people try.

What!?! Was this headline news that I just missed? That's downright ludicrous, if they were still legal together, that is. SMH, if true.

You're correct. And completely wrong at the same time.

Race is absolutely not real from a genetic standpoint. Physical adaptations based off evolution from various regions gave us different phenotypes (appearance). But all the stuff on the inside is basically the same.

Yet, Racism is undeniable...

I guess it depends on if they were legally separated at the time, but if not and this is true...Wow, just wow.

Sorry guys but this feels like a gossip board somewhere. The days we are living in one is guilty by accusation and not association or facts and no one seems to care. The "media" has perpetuated this on our culture and now we are seeing them devour their own. Actually all this discussion is really embarrassing to me. A Philistine behind every tree. SMH.
