This morning I was listening to 99.1 and at 11:05 they had Chavis on. The way they sounded he has made this appearance for a while now. I was surprised by it. I am typically at work at this time of day.

Listening to Chavis, he seems like a real class act. I am sure that he does not have to do the show any longer since he is no longer employed and the season it over. They even mentioned that. He was also able to take a few phone calls, they said he was not allowed too while he was at UT.

I just thought it was pretty cool that he was still on the local radio at this point.

He said he expects to be on a staff somewhere by the 3rd or 4th of January. He said he enjoys the college game. He basically said he didn't want to deal with the egos of the pros. He said it is too hard to motivate the pros when they are making 10x more money than the coaches. He said he enjoys the hands on aspect of being a coordinator although he would like to be a head coach.

When I was listening he did not, I guess he can't, speculate on any jobs.

I would like to see this man land somewhere and be successful.

Chavis and Cutcliffe were both great coaches. They're the reason Fulmer was here so long. I think Cutty moving on and the complacency among the coaching staff brought the demise to Fulmer's tenure. Chavis was an excellent coordinator but lost his passion for recruiting. I wish him well in his future endeavors.

Have lots of respect for Chief. Wish him the best and appreciate his efforts for UT football over the years. I think his batteries will recharge with a new situation wherever he lands.

Intresting about him not being allowed to take phone calls while at UT. I'm wondering if this was CPF's policy or UT's policy. If it was a directive of CPF it may answer a lot of questions we've all had about how inflexable and seemingly dumb moves made by the staff. I was always irritated by how unreachable or even untoucable the asst coaches seemed to be.

Chief will land on his feet.

I could see him being a head coach somewhere. Probably within a couple years.

Chavis was a great coach, and seems to have been a great guy. He will make someone a good coach where ever he goes. Good luck Chavis, your always a Vol.

There are things I wish I could "unsee". Like that pic of Chavis and Steele together going diving.
