As bad as the pick 6 was before halftime...Did anyone else see the reaction of our OC when tv cut to him in the box?

Dear lord, it was bad...he honestly looked like he had never comprehended that play could happen. Head in hands with a shocked look...

Reminded me of this...

2 read play.....high and low.......with the high being the safest of the two. miss over or out...out of bounds, kick field goal. those should've been the instructions in the play call. if they were its on the qb. if not its on halzle! horrific ending to the half

Exactly. You put the ball where only Kitselman can catch or it goes out of bounds. It was a weird side arm throw and it felt like it just hung there forever.

Communication communication communication. How you don’t communicate that to your qb, after a timeout, f’ing malpractice as a coach. And he’s a qb coach first! Idiot.

The entire thing was a disaster. The formation, personnel, and most of all the play call. Who goes play action from some Mickey Mouse jumbo formation when the world knows you’re going to pass. Should’ve spread guys out like normal. Try and get Brazz manned up or throw a quick hitter inside. Hit somebody in the front row if nothing is there. No need to over complicate anything.

cant say he did or didnt......but it certainly looks as if he didnt
I mean I guess he could have said it and it just been that bad a throw, but I doubt it. They had a timeout before. I’m presuming they talked about the chosen play at length to ensure it was run well. Though I guess it’s “possible” the coach was not as dialed in as they should have been (I can’t imagine this).

It was a highly limiting play in nature with only two options, and very predictable. Maybe that’s how they wanted it, really simple. I would say too simple. And not the easiest throw, small window, but again maybe that’s how they wanted it, no throws over the middle to prevent int or sack. Again just don’t like the play/formation. Bama knew what was being run. We didn’t hide anything, didn’t make it difficult to defend, didn’t execute. Take that page and tear it out of the playbook, never again.

With that many on the line, I would have rather see us line up and smash it up the middle behind kitz and van doselear, no time outs be damned. Terrible play/call. And we’ll never know, but I really wish we would know who called it, heupel or halzle.
