Galloway hit the nail on the head after the game. Mentioned that the talent is there, they just don't play well. He called out the coaching staff big time with that.

IMO, A perspective coach will look at the talent already in place and be impressed. I see less than 10 players currently playing that UT will miss next year, if all of the non seniors return. A new regime could easily turn this team around in one season, because the veteran talent will be in place.

Just my thoughts.:hi:

100% right.

Smart coaches will be able to see that Tennessee is a gold mine. You can win immediately and long term here. As you said the talent is there to win next year. And with the rise of talent when it comes to instate recruiting, a great head coach can build a dynasty here.

There is no reason Tennessee can't get a big name coach next year.

I agree. We have some players that are oozing with natural talent. But you have to have a good Teacher to cultivate those talents.

I mean what results do you expect when a P5 coach 5 years in has TWO delay of game penalties because apparently he doesn’t know the rules? Maybe he should work on his game clock eye discipline?

Saban took over for Shula and two season's later, they were national champs. Smart is taking over for RIcht and two season's later, it seems that he will take UGA to the SECCG and possibly the play offs

And Richt two years in, has Miami in the same boat. With less talent than GA.

Sure there is. The same reasons we failed to do so in the past two searches. Now, it doesn't mean we'll strike out again this time, but we'll need a different mentality making this hire than we've demonstrated in the past.

This is nothing like before. We have significantly more talent on the team RIGHT NOW. And the state of Tennessee has become a top 5 state when it comes to producing talent. Only Florida, Texas, Georgia, and California are projected to produce more elite college football talent in 2019 and 2020.

Tennessee is more attractive today than it has ever been.

The only flaw/reality is that UGA and UF are "gold mines" too and the key to the SEC East. Smart has UGA rolling right now and Gator fans will not continue to put up with McElwain's terrible offense. It is not impossible, but our work is usually cut out for us in the East...not to mention a Saban led BAMA program is our permanent common opponent in the West.

Kirk Herbstreit made the comment that " Going into Neyland isn't what it's used to be"

Sure is the same as it was in the 70s and 80s. Ask North Texas State, Army, Virginia, Duke, Rutgers, Duke yet again, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, etc

Over the last 65 years since Neyland retired, the 90s were an aberration. It was not indicative of the program as a whole over that time. What we?ve had under Butch is essentially the average for our program post Neyland.

So you believe we should be content and accept our fate.

Might as well trade the helmets for tampons then and just be scared

My biggest thing is bama wanted so many of our oline badly...and some of dline so yeah this staff sucks...keep Gillespie and warren that it. Oline been a complete disaster and bust for a extremely talented group....extremely

Well it's a nice thought, but though we have a new AD and new university president, the cast of characters who wag the dog standing behind them remain the same.

So though I agree a change is needed, I have little faith the right change will be made.

Well, the way things are trending, the last two years appear to be an aberration for Butch.
