Jodie Meeks is staying in the NBA draft

Smart move on his part. They only have one ball to go around and there is no way he can improve on his numbers from last year.

Either somebody at the back end of the first round has lost their mind or Meeks has gotten really bad advice.

Yeah, it hurts quite a bit. We have two dead eye shooters coming in, but Freshmen are Freshmen and neither are Jodie Meeks. This drops us probably 7-10 spots in the pre-season rankings, not that they mean a damn thing this day and time. Hopefully by the end of the season we will bridge the gap.

As for the NBA comment, I don't believe his game crosses over to the NBA that well. He certainly has the shot but his first step is not THAT quick, and NBA defenders are just to quick, long and strong. He may turn into a good 8-12 minute per-game player, spelling the starting rotation while the other team does the same.

However it is a weak draft, and if he waited until next year there is pretty much NO chance he goes in the first round, maybe not even the second. Good luck to him.

The loss of Jodie Meeks will barely be noticed by January.

I tend to agree, and certainly hope your correct on this one. I do agree that the talent coming behind him is an upgrade. Longer, taller with the same shot. Its just the early season experience that will probably hurt the most. I think by tourney time it will be a thing of the past.

On the side note, now we have an open scholarship. Idiots in Kentucky are already screaming to bring back Galloway or Pilgrim, which would be the stupidest move one could possibly make. Where these people derive there thought process is beyond me. Lets bring back and waste a scholly on someone who will never let go of the clipboard. Its obvious that we will keep the scholly open to reload after next year when everyone leaves.

EDIT: not to mention, there were probably three smiling faces this morning when Meeks announced. Dodson, Hood and Bledsoe.

Cal could do worse than to give Derrick Williams or Noel Johnson a call right now about that open scholarship.

None of those three were as happy as DeAndre Liggins and Darius Miller.

True also. Especially with Liggins. The way things have gone so far in the spring, I have thought Darius to be a starter from the beginning, and this may solidify it.

As for Liggins, I was not sure he would even be on next years roster.

Dang. Jodie's good people, and would be a much-needed good influence on the frosh incoming.

And he can ball. 54 at Knoxville? Are you serious?!?! :)

1 Bad Thing? Umm...NO. They hired Calipari. . . It's only a matter of time before MANY, MANY bad things happen to Kentucky.

The clock is ticking.....

Yeah, it will eventually fall-in/catch-up to them, but this season w/ recruiting, transfering, coaching hires etc, this offseason has pretty much gone as well as it ever possibly could for any school team
