JMU is 11-1 and will probably win this game but they should not be in the playoffs. That is just a wasted spot taken away from a more deserving team.

You can say this, and I don’t think anyone would argue they aren’t one of the 12 best teams, but if they make it, it will be fair and square based on the rules in place.

ND and Miami will both punch their ticket with a Bama loss. #11 and #12 will be Tulane and either UVA or JMU.

Alabama is the 1 seed in the SEC, no way they get left out. Unless they lose by 100. They shouldn’t either . They shouldn’t be punished for losing to UGA after already beating them on the road. Notre Dame shouldn’t benefit from being home while UGA and Bama slug it out .

Alabama is not the #1 seed in SEC in the playoffs.

No one said Duke would get in. The premise of my post was if JMU got upset by Troy, you’d have 3 unranked conference champs for 1 spot. UNLV, Troy, and Duke. In that order.

Pretty much your final spot would be something between 10-3 Kennesaw State, 9-4 Western Michigan, 10-3 UNLV, 9-4 Troy, and 8-5 Duke.

I wouldn’t be surprised if all of them in that situation would be outside the top 25 and the committee just went down the rankings as far as they needed to until they hit one of the 5.

That may be true, but based on the criteria for sleecting 12 teams, they qualfied. Can't publish the critiera then when a G5 meets it, you deny them (Tulane included) because there are better deserving teams. Ido feel Vandy got shafted at the expense of keeping Bama in, but only because Bama got toasted and completely shut down and dominated in the title game. Otherwise, I'm OK with Bama keeping the spot if they had played well and kept it close.

No team is deserving. They have to have 12 teams. About 9 of them every year are clearly not the best team in the country. They're just filler.

The 3 that might actually be the best teams are more than deserving. They are critical. Necessary.

You are either necessary or filler. The BCS was better.
