Jimmy Hyams voice of reason?

Good write-up by Hyams. Tennessee's complaints of sexual assault pale in comparison to other institutions.....Harvard for example. No way I would just settle. Make these greedy a$$holes fight for the extortion they are trying to pull off.

Worst part, 95% of this has been public knowledge.
Just no excuse for how that other paper presented everything so one sided.

While I'm not disagreeing with your sentiment, are you ready for at least two more years of this? For what I've heard a trial wouldn't take place for two to three years. And even if UT wins the image has been tarnished. It's just a tough situation.

I would like my school to take a stand in this BS kind of suit, and hopefully generate some Title IX reform and put a bunch of idiot SJWs in their place.

But if UT settles people will always look at it like the Jameis case. Everyone will just assume there was a problem.

If you win the case, you can at least say "hey, look, we went to court and won. A judge/jury said there was no problem at our school." Yes people will always "believe" it happened, but we will at least have a defense. If we settle, there is no defense, even though we aren't technically admitting guilt.

People who already refer to us as EwwT and UThug etc. were already going to do so anyway. To them this just reaffirms their biased, preconceived notion that we are what they believe we are.

What battling this does for us, however, is show we want to fight to prove our innocence. I'm sure behind the scenes Jones knows a lot more than we do, and is probably telling recruits as much.

The longer this goes, the more people will hopefully look at the grand scheme and realize that UT isn't the bad institute some say we are, and that there are far more serious campus problems elsewhere.

A very good article indeed. Points out how the quantity of accusers makes the situation look bad. But individually, the accusations have a lot of holes. It's refreshing to read an article that is objective for a change.

The prolonged time-frame is unfortunate but the media's attention span is limited at best. A new scandal will emerge elsewhere and things will quiet down until the trial re-ignites a bit of interest but it will have lost the 'shock value.'

If we pay to make it go away, we've admitted guilt to some degree or another. If the University tries to address the cases that hold merit and dispute the BS ones, it will still cost in the end but it might yield a bit more honest reflection of guilt.

Settling sets another bad precedent ala FSU and doesn't really solve anything in the process.

Are you ready to put up with this for the next 4 - 5 years because by the time all the appeals are done it will take at least that long.

I live out of state and have been questioned by several people about this. I have NEVER heard us called those names not have I heard us referenced as a bad institute (never heard us called institute either unless you include the generalization of Institute of Higher Learning).

What kind of Title IX reform?

Repeal, fully. Tired of the men's program FULLY supporting the women. Should be equality. Reopen the women's AD and let them support as many student athletes as they can.

Partial sarcasm.

I'm thinking after another month this whole thing will go dormant in the national media UNLESS there are major developments. They will get tired of reporting it and people will get tired of reading about it, a new story will come a long to take the attention off UT.

Im willing to bet right now that this thing drags out longer than Anita's career at the Tennessean and that eventually it is thrown out of court.

That's just what these extortionists are banking on.

Nice picture of Student's holding signs. Perhaps, just perhaps, march for a cause or a person after the details of the case are tried? If you immediately picket, you may end up looking foolish in the end. An absolute pet peeve that people don't let the process play out before forming conclusions.

I can't believe anyone is still making the damage control argument at this point. That ship has sailed. The attorney representing the accusers knew this was a loser from the get-go. His only chance was to try the case in the media and hope the bad PR would compel the school to pay-up. That's why Peyton's name was ever a part of this.

But it didn't work and now he has nothing. Having the Alexis Johnson accuser jump aboard the money train is sure a sign of desperation. The truth is slowly working its way into the conversation and it is eating away at the foundation of his case. No way we should settle at this point.

Definitely fight back. Good write up. We kid about Jimmy not reporting things until he has confirmed rekiable sources instead of reporting first rumor he hears. That being said his reporting is spot on.

Every other school taking shots at us better hope we fight and win. If these people get paid then the door is open on every big time school that has ever had a player accused of sexual misconduct. After the shot from Jim Harbaugh I hope Michigan is next to run the gauntlet.

Nobody says it in person, but I read it online a lot particularly from UK and Vandy fans. They also like to call us the Vawls and Voles etc, as though it's demeaning even though we own them.

And yes, that is what I meant when I said institute.

Edit: Oh yes, don't forget the Vandy favorite, the Viles.
