Jimmy Hyams could learn a lot by listening to Doug Mathews

Reading people blast him in the comments is free entertainment. He was in line at an event recently. It was an event that you had to purchase a ticket. He was a complete a**hat to the young kid at the ticket booth. So I proceeded to say "Hey Jimmy, will Brohm be busting out the black jersey this year?" He gave me the biggest eat s*** and die look I think I've ever received. My one and only lame story bro.
I've always thought he comes off as an arrogant butthole on the pregame call in shows

I can’t stand him because of how he acts during coaching searches. I get that must be the worst time to have his job but don’t act like an ass because everyone wants to know what’s going on.

He also did Brady Hoke's hatchet job on Jennings, stating that Juaun "needs professional help", and intimating that Jennings might not be academically eligible (this year) because he stopped going to classes.

Hyams usually is slick enough to leave himself some wiggle room by throwing in a "we'll see how that turns out" or some garbage like that after one of his reporting scoops/opinions. But a lot of people like listening to him, so to each their own, I guess.

He comes on the Zone in Nashville and all he does is talk about how he predicted something and it’s right. It’s like he is always trying to prove he knows what he is talking about. He has “little man syndrome”

I just hate the way he defended Butch and he never gives an honest opinion when it comes to being critical of the UT football team

If you listen to state run media they will always overlook the negative or spin it. They have to in order to maintain their access to the team. If you want an objective look then listen to Tony Basilio. Just realize sometimes Tony B is joking and people often miss the nuance.

Timing and context man. I agree with the thought but my God look at the timing.

Haters are gonna hate. Jimmy is pretty good at what he does. He's whiffed a few times over the years, but he's also been right...a bunch. As for Brohm, I think Tennessee was a lot closer to hiring him than most people realize. I don't get why so many people think the responses to Hyams on Twitter are comical. They're juvenile and lame, and the people participating in that garbage are part of the mob mentality that's ruining Twitter.

If you find Jimmy Hyams unbearable, I can't imagine how you felt about Mike Griffith because he really was unbearable and would go to any length to carry the coach's water, whomever that coach was. Thankfully he's no longer on the beat.

Hyams is a buffoon/mouthpiece for the University and the Haslams. I actually don't really disagree with his opinion most of the time, but the "information" or "scoops" he gets are often wrong.
Bald assertion.
Anyone that has done what Jimmy does for as long as he’s done it will miss. More often than not he’s right. Matthews is a former coach and brings a great perspective, but he doesn’t host a four hour show five days a week. They’re different. If you don’t like Hyams don’t listen, but he is certainly not a baffoon.

The last time I listened to Hyams he wasnt mincing words about how bad UT sucked on the field and basically the players werent good enough.

what Jimmy isn't going to do is put out there some crazy speculation in order to get a reaction like Tony/Erik/Swain do. Jimmy has to keep it clean and stick to facts. Granted he (and everyone else) dont actually have facts to report, but that's not his fault.

I think the reason people hate him so much is that he doens't give "dirt" because most of the time there isn't dirt go give because it isnt made public. Those other guys who throw out conspiracies and rumors are just speculating. They dont actually know anything, but people eat it up because they like gossip, true or not.

Knoxville sports media is the worst. Bottom of the barrel bad. I would 1000 times rather listen to Paul Finebaum, even if he's a Bama homer. At least he's going to say correct things.
