Unless his health really goes downhill, I expect him to coach the '09-'10 season. He doesn't want to be perceived as running away from UCONN's current issues with the 'AA. That said, I'll be surprised of he's coaching when the '10-'11 season tips off.
When being rushed to the hospital becomes a regular occurence, it would seem worrying more about one's health than one's legacy would be the way to go.agreed, as i hear the whispers regularly here. I'm of the opinion that if not for the situatuion with the ncaa calhoun would have given it up after the past season. He wants to save face, but he is far from being a healthy man at this point.
Tough to say. His former assistants have been nothing spectacular in their head coaching stints. My gut feeling is that their administration will try and make a clean break from Calhoun. Keep an eye on Phil Martelli. He and Auriemma are best friends and I'd think their AD would prefer that scenario to the constant infighting that's gone on between the basketball programs for the last decade and a half.Looking ahead, who would be a likely successor?

No. Since the babbling apes in the media have decided to put aside logic and reason and state the Summit is the "winningest coach in D-I history," Geno is just going to stay in the women's game and obliterate John Wooden's record for championships.
