When you look at the fumble play, JG would have had a TD had he followed Trey Smith as Trey totally had it cleared out for him.

We would have had a chance, JG let his teammates down, it was a good drive.

We were competitive, team improving. Get a few more good recruiting classes and we will be playing for championship games. I still think Pruitt is our guy for a long time.

I like JG. However, his career is going to be summed up in about 60 seconds. It’s a combination of about 120 plays where he held the ball a split second too long and got sacked or just a little to long and the receiver got covered up. If you listen to broadcasts the announcers are regularly saying “he was late on that pass” or “he held it a little too long.” May be not quick enough decision making. May be he wants to make a play. But add up all those times we were “this close” on a play and how much a difference it makes it probably defines him.

Having what I'd term a decent to good OL with a good upside then get 3-4 each class will do wonders for UT's football program. Instead of a rebuild we simply reload the way the better teams are doing and how UT use to do. I think it can be safely said that the foundation is now laid. As for all the experimenting we witnessed, I feel that J.Carvin at RG is the final piece. From l-r we should see this line-up the rest of the season: W.Morris, T.Smith, B.Kennedy, J.Carvin, D.Wright. These 5 have gotten what I think is a good push at the LOS and good lanes are opening up more frequently. I felt that UT would start this season off bad because of all the youth and in-experience and by mid-season if there was gonna be any progress we'd see some signs by the 6th-7th game.
The major piece that's missing is the QB. I'd like to see JT. Shrout get in a few games and see what he brings to the table. Also I'd like to see our recruiters stay after Haynes King who committed to Tex A&M over UT. We can also put K.HILL on a scholly and have at least 3 good ones to start next season, (counting H.Bailey). As for recruiting, getting Hardy and Baron to go with Ojulari would be great but because we lost 3 LBers in two weeks, I'd like to see us get at least one stub at the ILB position. Go Big Orange !

That’s just what JG is. The other thing is he was way too far to be able to extend the ball over the pile anyway. You kinda have to jump up over the line to be able to extend it. I can’t remember ever seeing a quarterback with worse awareness then JG

Im not upset at JG if he changed the play. Im upset that he didnt just crash forward nut tried to do some leap over the pile.

I'm not sure what to make of the 4 plays we had at the goal line. That's gonna be Pruitt and Chaney's style it seems. 3 straight dive plays and then a QB sneak. Maybe should have called a TO and talked it over after the 2nd attempt. We need a RB who can leap or put in Crouch to run behind Emerson as we did vs. UF. I'm putting this one on the coaches myself and the reason being is Pruitt's lack of experience as a HC. Picking up 3-4 yds. on a running play at mid-field is a lot easier than picking up 1 yd. at the 2yd. line. Space is cramped, LBer's fill all the gaps and safeties are up close too. The best answer is the straight-up dive, which we tried 3 times. The only solution now is to practice the situation over and over again until every one is on the same page. I have down-talked JG this year starting after the GAST loss. This isn't going to help his confidence one bit. In reality he should have never been in that situation to start with, meaning UT should have gotten in on one of the 3 previous attempts and then have the nightmare of a fumble being returned 100 yds, (a 14 pt. swing), then have your coach grab your facemask and chew you out in front of the whole world....wow. Let us all just snap and clear, quit the finger-pointing and prepare to kick USCe's azz! They have already gotten lucky by this game having a 4:00 kick-off instead of being at night. We owe 'em one and now it's time to collect. Go Big Orange !

I agree. It was such a feeble attempt and his OL seemed to have no idea what was going on. The thing that really upset me though was the fumble.

You used a butch jones saying in snap and clear so that's bad. Pruit grabbing a facemask is totally fine with 99 percent of world. Shrout should have been in bc we know what jg is.

It looked like JG never got his arms extended to the goal line. He just jumped straight up in the air and fumbled. But it was probably an impossible play to make anyway. Michael Jordan would have a hard time leaping two yards from a standstill over a pile of 6' guys....

Tbones0711,Crouch was in the damn game.JG ignored a 247 pound running back with a pulling guard who wiped out the d-tackle and tried to make his butt a hero by going over the top with a cute two-handed pass to the Bama player.Top flight qb.work there!

There a lot to appreciate about JG. He took a lot of hits and spilled a lot of blood for Tennessee.

But he’s not a guy who you want to trust with your fate. He’s a momentum killer. He hit his ceiling last year. It’s pointless to give him any future snaps.

That’s the thing, it wasn’t a pile. Oline did not fire off low, it didn’t look like a designed sneak. It looked like he was supposed to hand it off to Crouch who was following the h back through the damn hole that was there, but I’m no expert.
