JG #2 QB in nation under pressure and #4 overall in SEC

JG has proven himself as a viable SEC qb this year and has done so with a 1st year 1st time HC, new staff, new scheme, on a team that was winless in the SEC a year ago and with the worst O-line I have ever seen play D1 football. He has even proven to be a playmaker at times and does so under tremendous pressure the majority of his snaps. Tough as nails to boot.

He also has came up short in sliding protection and for his share of not getting the ball in the end zone. Anyone thinking he is a finished product is a blind homer, and anyone still constantly criticizing the kid is either just blind or wants to be right on something they said months ago so bad that they are alright looking like total idiots.

JG has come a long way and has a ways to go still and as far as qb's that's played in orange this year, he has shown to be the qb that gives us the best chance to win. That's a fact proven by him starting each week. I for one am glad he is a Vol and I'm thankful for yet another great win and JG's part in that win. Can't wait to see how far he advances next season.

Its funny watching UT fans making fun of other UT fans for talking about our QB on an internet message board.

Lulz Boca, I just don't get why such a big deal is made about JG doing good.

I'm thrilled he's playing well. I don't need some obscure stat to validate it.

But is the qb the only guy responsible for the score?

No, of course not. But he handles the ball on nearly every offensive play and the more efficient his play is the better the team "should" be. Having a good OL is a huge part of that.

But you clearly don’t understand.

You see....just because he completes passes at a high percentage while simultaneously having a high yards per attempted pass, pretty much never throws an interception (has the program record for most consecutive pass attempts without and INT and has now thrown only 4 INTs in 350+ career pass attempts), and has only been sacked 14-15 times in 10 games this year despite playing behind what is clearly one of the worst OLs in college football............he can’t read a defense, he locks onto one receiver on every single play, he constantly has us in the wrong play and pass protection (every single time he gets hit it’s really his, and only his fault) and he holds the ball way too long (2.2 seconds vs Chryst ONLY holding it 2.1 seconds against Bama for example).

Come on man, get with the program, learn the talking points.

LOL

He's a work in progress and some of the criticism is warranted but I have yet to see any real argument that illustrates why Chryst is so much better. Mop up drives against an unmotivated and bored Bama team doesn't count for much.

If Chryst was so much better, he would have been starting or would have gone to another major program and started. Or maybe, just maybe, he would have won his starting job back at Stanford.

Pruitt doesn't want JG to transfer and have to start a green freshman next year..that's why he plays. Occams razor.

Well..and maybe that 2nd best under pressure thing..🙄

If he isn't any good then why would Pruitt care if he transfers and he had to start Shrout as a RS?

I don't wanna get into a whole JG is awesome defense of him because he is ranked highly in ___insert obscure QB stat here ___ but it may just be as simple as him being the best QB on the roster currently. If we are citing Occams Razor then that seems to be the more viable answer.

And this is coming from someone who is doubtful that JG is in the top 6 in the conference.

Blue font is intended as just that, sarcasm or kidding... I myself have had a couple of posts that SHOULD have used blue font cause otherwise well its hard to tell when someone is kidding via a keyboard. Some actually use blue font and others (blue font).Hope that helps
Thanks man!! It really does. I am relatively new to the forum, so it helps with the etiquette.

Hes pulling your leg. Blue font is used when the comment is 100% accurate and true. That's why he didn't use blue font. See how it works?

Yore welcome.

Yes. That gold holds just as much weight as the real olympics, or those special ones. Participation trophy culture is alive and well I see.
I hardly call an Olympic or Paralympic athlete winning a medal a participation trophy. One of my sons participates in the Special Olympics and they do give out participation trophies there and I have zero problem with that. I’m guessing that isn’t a world you know. I’m very competitive and absolutely believe in keeping score to help kids deal with winning and losing and don’t believe in participation trophies in most cases. Special Olympics is a whole different ballgame. You are throwing them all under the same umbrella and that just isn’t accurate.

From reading this post Bill Belichick must be begging Tom Brady to play for at least another year so they can take JG with their first pick in the draft. His completion percentage is better than Brady.

And as others have noted, for some strange reason his best games came when the o line also had their best games, so wouldn't that lead someone to reason that his bad play is likely dictated by the play of the o line that blocks for him?
