67, I know you and I have very different opinions of Coach Cal, but are you a little bothered by Patton's ability to get players out of Memphis? I don't think we can get upset about losing players to a successful coach who's been in the League, but a Big 12 bottomfeeder shouldn't get players we recruit. However, we might want to keep an eye on this because another bad year might spell the end of Patton's tenure. I'll be interested to see if Williams signs in November, or waits til spring.

Two words "playing time." He knew that at the SEC level of competition he was a project. He has no real inside game to speak of and not enough ball skills to play on the wing. I think he knew there was more of a chance of getting playing time at Colorado and that was his motivating factor. With Wingate, Childress, Chism, and Harris he saw the writing on the wall. Its usually a sign when a school waits as long as UT did to give him a formal offer.

If he doesn't think he can take PT from Childress and Harris, I wouldn't want him.

I think you are underestimating both of those players. They are both around 6' 9" and over 250 pounds. Harris is in great shape and has shed 35 pounds since this time last season. Williams is outweighted and outmuscled quite a bit. He knew he was going to be pushing to earn playing time on the wing and that scared him. His shot is adequate at best, and his ball handling was also adequate at best.

Colorado has a kid from the mid-state area and that is what made the biggest difference. Colorado coach is very chrismatic as is Pearl but I think the kids name is Harrison and he made a big difference. Add to that Colorado is a bigger party school than UT is.

One more thing UT didn't offer Williams until his visit.

Harrison has been in the NBA for a couple of years, I seriously doubt he was a factor. Patton has gotten some role players out of Memphis during his tenure. He has ties to the Memphis area, which never hurts in recruiting that area. My concern is that we have enough successful coaches i.e., Calipari, Stansbury, and Mike Anderson, to deal with in West Tenn, we don't need an upstart making it even tougher.

I will add that you can't even compare living in Knoxville to living in Boulder. Boulder wins hands down.

However, I have been to some basketball games when I was in Boulder and it's pretty lame to say the least.

Given that Boulder has one of the lowest percentages of minority students of any major university in America, I'm not sure how great it is if you're not some affluent, white, trust fund baby like most of the CU grads I have met.

Well, I don't know about that but it's a beautiful place to live.

I agree with the fact that it is a beautiful area. Traveling to Denver occasionally for business, I've always noticed how clean the area seems. Very pristine mountains. Development starting to reduce the open spaces, though.
