Wow! Just got home and watched the press conference. I gotta say, this guy is a 180 of what Butch was. No cliches, straight to the point, seems quick tempered, very passionate.

Butch was just so....blah.

If first impressions are the most important, this guy definitely sold me! Can't wait til next year!!

Although Dooley was funny (and could hire great assistants), he was much too arrogant and game-day coaching was pitiful

First presser, first exposure to local press corp and OUR new coach gives a smack down to reporter for stupid question. LOVE IT!

I'm more than thrilled to have a coach that talks like an actual human being. I got so tired of listening to the cliche spewing Butch Bot 3000

CJP just won the press conference . "That's a Football COACH right there folks." I don't believe that will be his only win either. I was on the edge of my seat through the whole press conference.

Let it go. Stop focusing on the past and trashing a former coach. Move on. The new HC refused to look backwards - we need to do the same thing.

Dooley had a southern accent, too. Of course Dooley had his Dooleyisms. I see Pruitt being more from the gut, which I can respect.

I like his plan. In the end, he must recruit well to give us a shot. He must adapt to our team’s strengths because we have lacked a coach since Fulmer who could do that.

A little bit different take from me. You could tell that he was not accustomed to answering the type of questions he was being asked. Some of them he answered like one would expect an assistant (aka DC) to answer them. Some of them he really didn't answer but punted on. Whether that will change as he grows into the HC role - time will tell.

The difference some of you saw is really the difference between the 'coach talk' that a HC will normally use and the "talk" that an assistant will use. Assistants have always been more focused on football and less focused on "vision type statements" as they are the doers not the vision setters.

What remains to be seen is how he responds to the tough questions and criticism during the season. The Knoxville media folks are NOT pro Tennessee - never have been, never will be. And every fan in Neyland, every fan on social media, every fan watching at home - turns into an arm chair coach during the season - constantly saying what should have been done.

IMO, Jones became more jaded over time by the constant barrage of meaningless questions intended to get him to react. Will the Knoxville media and fan base do the same to Pruitt?
