The basic info in VolMike's post was that Brent Hubbs has mentioned Jeremy Bates as a potential OC candidate.

am i old or what? jeremy bates is a former backup qb to peyton. his dad is coach jim bates and his brother played lb for the florida gators when they got run over by tommy frazier and nebraska cornhuskers in the 95 championship game in the fiesta bowl. his brother's a cocky fool. just thought that i'd add that.

If he's from Sevierville, he could be related to James Bates, who was a linebacker on Florida's 1996 National Championship team.

He was probably the shortest QB to ever take any snaps for the Vols (must have been around 5-8). Played sparingly in mop-up and later transferred about the time of the Jim Bates/Ron Zook/Jack Sells Kinkogate affair.

no, he played after zook sent those copies to gainesville. that happened in 1991.

Interesting that Jeremy Bates's name surfaces but Troop didn't really get the time of day.

Any relation to Bill Bates?

usually the players who don't amount to anything are your better coaches. because they don't have the god given talent that some of the guys do, they have to work that much harder and learn the play book better.
