Tennessee at #9.

Other SEC teams: Kentucky=#2, Florida=#25.

Among the "other 20 teams to watch": Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina.

Just don't understand how people can think we'll be a top 10 team when we weren't even a top 25 team at the end of last year... I wouldn't put us higher than 18-21ish.

People will be disavowed of the notion of UT being a Top 10 team when they go to the Virgin Islands and get their teeth kicked in by Purdue.

I agree. We still have no PG and no consistent outside shooting.

disabused does work a lot better in that instance. disavowed is generally a verb done by the person in question who would have spoke highly of UT, rather than something done to them by the result of the possible purdue/ut game.

Yeah, thats kind of pushing the envelope a bit... with both of our teams, IMO. I like UK somewhere around 8-10, UT somewhere around 17-20.

And I'm not sure that I wouldn't rank Mississippi St in the top 25 before Florida. However, I normally find pre-season polls useless.... but they do provide good discussion topics in the off-season.

Do you understand people making a team that flat out sucked a year ago a top 2 team?

When you get players like Cousins/Wall/Bledsoe yes - but not a top 2 team - but yes a top 10.

Who is Tennessee adding Kenny Hall? And Goins? Kenny Hall will be decent but our problems aren't in the front court so not sure he will have much of an impact.

With a brand new, Final Four coach, and one of the greatest recruiting classes of all time, including both the number 1 and nuber 2 HS players coming into UK, I can totally understand that! Anyone who says UK shouldnt be a top 5 program isnt being honest with themselves!

About as much as I understand people picking the Celtics to win the '07-'08 NBA title after losing about a thousand games the year before. How did that turn out?

But our coach uses bodypaint, self tanner, and gives away t shirts. Everyone knows those are the key to victory in college hoops.

Wow...GREAT example right there! I guess it's pretty much the same scenario! :)

OK. Your first post was not believing UT to be a top ten team based on not being in the top 25 last season.

I was just rolling it over to the Cats as well. If the incoming frosh can transition UK can be much better than last year.

That coach doesn't have a schedule packed with SMU, Rice, Marshall, ECU, and Tulane.

Over time John will build the base. The success of adding talented freshmen to a base of CDR, Dorsey, and Anderson is very different to adding talented freshmen to Patterson, Stevenson, and Porter.

Remember, it took several years (and getting UL, Cincy, and Marquette off the schedule) to be successful at UM.

I was going to let the lunatic kat fan's agreement with the post be all the retort it needed.

But I decided to point out that you are comparing KG and Cousins? An all-star and a high school recruit having the same impact on a new team?

Yeah, his career record at Memphis against the SEC indicates he's in real trouble.

He's not in trouble. He's a great coach that will do fine. But he won't have the same W-L success at UK that Memphis had the last 4 years.

How much impact did Derrick Rose have as a frosh? Carmelo Anthony? Chris Webber? Jalen Rose? Glenn Davis? Do I need to really list the plethora of freshmen who have elevated their team in the last decade?

Given that they set and NCAA record for wins in a four year period, it would be a bit to expect them to do so. The difference won't be as stark as some want to dream. Memphis wouldn't have lost more than a couple of games in SEC play either of the last two years.

Wanna bet Cousins is on the All SEC team at the end of the season?

UT IE 95 is mentally insane. First of all, Porter isnt even on the team anymore. Second of all, our starting lineup is

John Wall- #1 HS player-5 star
Eric Bledsoe- #3 PG in the nation- 5 star
Darius Miller- Former KY Mr. Basketball(beat scotty hopson for that award)
Patrick Patterson-Beast, enough said
Demarcus Cousins- #2 HS player, 5 star

Reserves
Daniel Orton-5 star Center
Jon Hood-4 star SG
Darnell Dodson-4 star SF
Ramon Harris- defensive specialist
Stevenson-former starter, very experienced, shot blocker
Josh Harrelson- 3 point shooter, dark-horse role player on this team
DeAndre Liggins- 5 star PG from 2008 class

Plus, theres rumors now that Xavier Henry, the best SG in the 2009 class, is going to pull out of Kansas, and come to UK now, because Jodie Meeks stayed in the draft! That's more than just a rumor at this point. UK officials have said they have "big news" to announce on monday regarding a "New, unexpected player coming to the program", and Xavier Henry just pulled out of all of his summer classes at Kansas. So throw Xavier Henry into that mix, please tell me how we're not top 5?

But still, if there is going to be one team in the SEC that will compete along side us for the crown it will probably be UT!

Not disagreeing with anything here but the bolded ones I found quite hilarious. The first because that was 100% political and the 2nd because the guy sucks and won't see the floor if he could barely last year.
