Chism and/or Crews might morph into a post presence, but, today, neither appears to have the size or that style of game. I'm not trying to denigrate their skills in any way, I just don't think they provide the type of inside presence that tends to make crunch time more predictable, on each end of the floor.
You listed some names of centers and those guys make those teams complete (though you left off Hibbert). I don't think we're as complete. We're talking about final 4 caliber squads and those applying will likely have a center (or reasonable facsimile) to lean on when needed.
I'd say Florida had a very dominating inside presence Noah blocked more shots in a week than our guys did in a season and horford's going to be the first power forward off the board tomorrow night. i'd say that qualifies as an inside presence.Fair point, but didn't Florida win two straight NC without a dominant inside presence? Great post players for sure, but not dominant centers on the level as those other guys. If Wayne, Tyler, and Duke can bring it to the level of Horford, Noah, and the Richard, we'll have a chance.
Also, I agree with Stunna - Chism can play some post D.
You're telling me to stop with the prognostication? You're the one spewing prospective stats and using hearsay as evidence of our post play improvement.I disagree about Chism. He's right under 6'10 now and is has improved rapidly in the low post from what I've heard. And Tyler Smith will blow by any 4 he's matched up against in our offense. Coming off the bench, Crews is more than capable of giving us some nice production in the paint. Besides Hansbrough, Hibbert, and possibly D.J. White, none of the guys I listed are a proven threat yet. Chism and Crews had no trouble with Dorsey in last season's meeting. Plus, they matched up with Oden far better than Joey did in the regional final (Dorsey 0 points). All I'm saying is wait until you see them play this year before saying our inside play is a glaring weakness.
