Jauan Jennings Wants New Contract

Once again missing the point of a “contract”. The analogy someone brought up has no bearing on the fact that it’s still a “contract” regardless of different situations. You’re blinded by your orange glasses because it’s JJ. Did JJ deserve it? I think so. Do nfl players routinely “holdout” of said contracts? Yes, and it’s sorry. I don’t feel like I should have to define “contract” so I’ll just leave this dead horse lying here.
You’re projecting; it has nothing to do with “orange glasses”. I don’t keep up with Jennings and know next to nothing about his NFL career. All I need to know is that he’s seeking security and more $ beyond this season, that this is common practice in the NFL, and that the 49ers agreed he’s of greater value than his contract stipulates.

That’s the bottom line and no one else’s sensibilities matter at all. You’re weren’t asked to define contract, but it assists a conversation to understand your rigid definition simply isn’t practical or how NFL contracts actually work. Or in business generally. Most people leave enormous amounts of $ on the table throughout their career for two reasons; the pool of people with their skillset is large and/or they simply don’t demand a wage equivalent to their more rare skillset. You find this out by looking at market compensation and then asking for the money. If you don’t get it and you’re either not worth it or don’t pursue it elsewhere, that’s on you.

Jennings isn’t timid, knows his value and asked for it; a logical acknowledgement that employers aren’t more concerned with your compensation than you are. Those opportunities are finite in a lifetime, especially when your career is about 5 years.

No offense to Jennings at all, but this is exactly what is wrong with pro ball, and college ball today. Seven million is not enough to run fast and catch a football! Coaches making millions per year and I could go on and on. Meanwhile fans keep getting screwed with rising ticket prices. Hopefully, one day the bubble will burst and we can come back to reality.

You’re just explaining what’s wrong with America in general lmao

Bogus. Athletes are worth whatever the market will bear. That IS the reality.

Yeah, I think it’s pretty obvious at this point. I love Jauan but he’s delusional if he still thinks a team is gonna pay him all that money at this point. Sucks because I wanted the Titans to sign him but they don’t need to pay him anything close to what they’re already paying Wandale Robinson imo.

I guess we will welcome him back at a reasonable price if it doesn't work out for him.
