Great article. You got to respect Coach Fulmer for his involvement in this foundation. He seems to really put family first and genuinely care about others. Didn't know that about Coach Caldwell's son, kind of puts things in perspective.

Some comments from other fans of other teams after reading the article.

  • Fulmer, you're a class act, I promise I'll think twice before I say something derogatory about you again. -nick UF class of '06

  • Coach Fulmer and Flatt, You are both class acts in my book, thank you for trying to do somthing positive in the world and helping those who grieve. Im a bama fan and I will never curse Fulmer ever again, its just football. Best story ive read on ESPN in a while.

  • I am a Notre Dame fan, but have always respected Tennessee and Coach Fulmer. My respect has now become admiration. What a wonderful story of two men turning the worst possible thing that could happen to a parent into healing for others. You Vols fans should be proud to have such a fine man representing your university. I may not outright root for UT, but I'll always be Phillip Fulmer fan.

There was only 17 comments total, and most were from UT fans.

Here is the other two from other fans...

  • from "THE SWAMP".... props to coach fulmer; he is a class act... see you guys in september.. will be a great game as always..

  • WOW! In this day and age of players being banned for using drugs, getting arrested for causing trouble at a strip club at 3AM, spousal abuse and all the other crap...this story makes you realize that there are still some good people in our sports world. I am a Michigan Wolverine fan, but I just became a Phillip Fulmer fan for life. Awesome story!

My opinion of Fulmer as a coach :banghead2:

My opinion of Fulmer as a person

He's definately admirable, and a great role model for being unselfish. It'll make it that much tougher to get rid of him after his next 5-loss season.

I've known about Coach Fulmer's work with the Jason Foundation for quite a while. That's why you will never see me making any negative comments about him whenever the "fire CPF" threads get contentious.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT visit tidefans.com. Someone started a thread about the story, and had good things to say. More than handful of posters, including an administrator for the forum, said "He could save 100 puppies, but until he helps Alabama or admits he did wrong, he can rot in hell."

These people can't be that insane, right? The charity work Fulmer, Saban, etc do is bigger than football.
