Vocal*fans help change*commit's mind from Tennessee to Stanford - Andy Staples - SI.com

I like Giles's attitude.. Nunes is soft

I guess Giles got on here and did some reserach lol

"I think the boos scared Nunes away," said Giles, who remains committed to the Vols. "His dad was real hot about that."

Tennessee commit Giles said he loves the school and its coaching staff, but he also had questions after the Florida game. "The boos kind of scare me," he said. "I don't want the fans to boo me." Giles said he was somewhat reassured after reading on the Internet that the fans were booing the decisions of the coaches and not the players themselves. Still, he couldn't help but notice that the booing reached its loudest points after mistakes by quarterback Crompton and tailback Arian Foster. Giles has resolved not to worry about that, though. "I'm going to do my thing," he said. "I'm going to give 110 percent so [the booing] doesn't happen to me."

You know as far as Nunes goes... see ya later kid.

Giles said he's going to give 110% so they don't boo him. Well what a flipping great idea. Let's try to actually do better because we don't want the fans upset. That, in contrast with Crompton who said he didn't care about the boos because they're playing for each other as a family.

We need leather skinned players that need to understand that they will be booed if they don't play worth a damn. To expect anything else is asinine. You don't want to be booed, give us a reason NOT to boo you and the coaches. BTW, Giles our BIGGEST issue is with Cromp and not with anyone else.

Giles sounds like a guy that has the attitude we need around here.

I hope he ends up on campus!

If Nunes expects to play football and not get booed, he is in for a rude awakening. I don't condone booing players in college but the NFL is an entirely different beast. We are probably looking at the second coming of Ryan Leaf with this Nunes kid.

Im not sure who all else was recruiting him but im willing to bet no top notch coach would want to sign a kid who got scared away because of boos

The amount of money that is paid for in a college football game, especially UT, rivals if not exceeds some NFL teams. So if they want the fans to have fun then they need to lower prices on everything, provide cheap but good refreshments, and don't tell us that a coach that has been mediocre at best since 01 gets an extension if he reaches a certain plateau of wins. If you do that, no one boos even if we do suck. Well maybe some, but not as many.

Giles has a great attitude. He has nothing to worry about.
We all knew that Rick Clausen wasnt the best athlete or QB when he was here but we cheered him for his effort. Did he make mistakes, yes, some mental and some because of a lack of ability. Overall however, we cheered his efforts.

That is a little baseless. All we know for sure is, is that Nunes left because of distance. Lets not turn into KY and bash players who choose to leave or play for other schools.

Exactly. Tennessee, Penn St, Ohio St. and Michigan sell too many tickets to 100,000+ fans to have their players not seeming to give their best effort every saturday. Its not so much that we're expecting to win a national championship every year but atleast show the supportive fans some effort of adjustment or something.. they atleast owe us that... effort

That's true and I guess I got a little carried away. Will give him the benefit of the doubt. Good luck to Nunes at Stanford.

or nashville, or New York..... or anywhere in the NFL for that matter.. His dad will probably try to get him to commit to another nfl team if he gets booed

Sigh, please go back and read your own post.

What i was saying is that it seems like he has all the talent in the world but as soon as one thing goes wrong he just gets discouraged and runs away from the situation rather than taking on the chance to improve the situation..
