Just wanted to post a poll as my first ever started thread. This based off a comment made I made earlier in a thread. Just want to see the sites overall opinion of JG's performance as our starting QB.

Honestly I think he'd kill it at a school like Memphis or UCF. He's not really built for the SEC. That said, he's worked his tail off to get as far as he can, it just seems his ceiling is not really high enough for SEC success.

Kid is as tough as there is, and he has a very strong arm. It is true that he has been behind weak OL's so far in his career and that surely has impacted his performance to date, however, I do not think I am going out on a limb when I say that it is hard to envision him ever competing for conference honors at his position even if he had an adequate OL. That is not a slight btw, only 3-4 a year make that mark.

Average. He protects the ball well but struggles on long accuracy. He has a chance to be Good+ if he can read some defenses and blitzes. Then learn to move a little in the pocket.

You nailed it. I voted Bad for the same reasons though. Very limited offense with him as QB. Passing stats back that up. Only 2 games over 200 yards.

This is the type of discussions that make it interesting to haunt this site. Please feel free to post any sort of reason you voted the way you did. It helps with this old guy's analysis of the data. Statistical analysis is the bulk of my job.

The results are definitely trending toward the proof of my hypothesis for certain.

Average with a small chance to be good. Accurate with short to medium range throws. Weak arm on long throws being continually under thrown. Needs better communication with receivers concerning blitzes. Timid to throw over the middle of the field.
Contrary to popular belief, there were 6 SEC teams that gave up more sacks than Tenn. and 7 gave up less.

That is good information. Do you know how the QBs of the teams that gave up more sacks compare to JG on measurables?

He's been good enough where he isn't one of the main weaknesses on the team but he's not good enough to cover up the team's weaknesses....

He's tough and accurate. His main weakness is he doesn't process the game as quick as he should. He has been limited by poor line play and questionable play calling.

If you put him on Bama, they'd be in the CFB playoff with him as starter since their playcalling and OL play would negate the weaknesses in his game....

If he had a good offensive line, JG would be one of the best 3 or 4 QBs in the conference. Upper third. When he is given time, he can make all the throws.
