Not a good look for him at all.

The club's general manager Fang jun described Stokes as "the most unprofessional basketball player in history".

Wow. Terrible to get that kind of comment from a team. Not sure how it will affect him moving forward. Never heard any sort of issue ever before. Hope he makes it back into the NBA/G-League though.

He can still play in Europe -- need to see his side of the story, he was avg 25 points a game - which seemed pretty good for him

Depends. It's not as simple and easy and packing up and moving to Europe. Living far away from home and playing a different style in a different environment. Has to be tough in ways.

How is this? I thought he was an NBA player? All I hear is how we had "3 NBA" players when we went to the Sweet 16.

Surprising to hear. I don't remember him having any semblance of attitude issues anywhere else.

Night and day in terms of cultures between US and China. I would like to hear more details/witness accounts.

I always thought he thought he was better than he really was. Not uncommon for 5* players though.

You are just hired help in China I don't care what your profession is. Maybe he thought they were gonna kiss his ass like Americans do the NBA players.

meh - its China

Underrated post, IMHO.

Reading the article, it sounds like there was some kind of dispute over whether Stokes was hurt or not. The guy was his team's leading scorer, averaging over 25 ppg. Way too early to call this some kind of career-ending suicide move on Stokes' part. Who knows, Stokes may have just been protecting himself. Were just hearing the China-side of this so far...

I fully trust the Chinese team's version of it. China clearly has the strongest labor laws in the world, caring deeply for the well being of its workforce. I can't imagine any reason for this other than Jarnell trying to defraud this Chinese team, especially since the team's doctors couldn't confirm his injury complaints. Is the team owned by Foxconn?
