Janzen Jackson's role

He will see the field, thats a foregone conclusion. I just think it's a little to early for everyone to be giving him a starting position. He hasn't even been on the pratice field yet. Our secondary is pretty solid. I'm not saying he can't earn a starting spot, but it will be difficult.

That's what I'm thinking. We also have Myles Jr. coming in. He's a big time player too. We'll see how good both of them are when they get here.

Provided Morely settles down and acts like a senior, then I think Janzen is more likely to contribute early at corner than at safety.

There is ample precedent for one of our dbs to play well at one of those 2 positions, but still be switched to the other (Berry, Jason Allen).

Morley, Morely, Merely. He sucks! This cats been one of the biggest disappointments since Gerald Riggs. Comes in rated on the same level as Eric Berry with comparable skills and athleticism but chooses to be a dumb a$$ time and time again. If you haven't learned what is expected of you by the time you're a senior after being given a second chance then it's time to clear the way for someone that might actually give his team more than a nickname. I hope the Myles kid and Janzen come in a give a rude awakening to some of the kids that can't get their crap together. aka Vinson and Morley

You would think that how Morley had to work his way back in to Tennessee, he would be a little bit more mature. Remember "Im going to be the biggest thing to hit Tennessee since Elvis"...wow.

I agree with the OP, Jackson hasn't gotten a lot of pub. His signing has largely been lost among the Kiffin sound-bytes rolling across the ESPN ticker, stories of pecan logs and Vol hostesses along with the Bryce Brown saga, and Rod Wilkes jokes.

However, Jackson is the highest rated kid in our class at this point, and given that he's a coach's son and apparently very mature, I think he'll contribute early and often. My guess would be first or second CB off the bench early in the season, and if he plays well, possibly moving into a starting role by season's end.

FWIW, we could actually have an entire starting secondary full of 5* kids by season's end... Berry, Morely, Vinson and Jackson.

I think Jackson takes Vinson's spot and Myles takes Morley's giving Tennessee a ridunkulous secondary.

since our recieving core isnt all that besides g jones and nukeese, why dont we try one of these guys at reciever since the secondary is already stacked?

Well I am a Morley fan and assuming he gets his behavior in check I dont think there is any way he losses his spot. I am a huge Janzen Jackson fan, his hightlight clip was amazing and from the interview I watched he really seems like a high class kid. I can see him playing corner next year with a future at safety.

Has anyone heard any updates about his injury?

Although I was excited about Myles signing I am not as big on him as others are. I think he might need some work but it is hard to say.

Kiffin sticks true to his word of playing freshmen AND playing the best players: Next year Jackson will start more games than he doesn't.

I can see him playing a lot in our nickel package. He and Vinson on the outside with Rogan on the slot. That would be pretty good lineup against almost any receiver trio that's out there.

With the additions of Jackson and Myles Jr, is there any chance Vinson moves back to WR?

No. If he stays on the field he'll be our 2nd best DB. Book it. He has legit tools to be a shutdown corner. Watch and see what the staff gets out of him.

Jackson and Myles are gonna make a push for playing time in this year's defense (we also signed 3 other raw athletes that could impress in the D backfield). Look for them and Askew to have a chance to make a defensive impact as true froshkies.
