@TennesseeBeat: D-Coordinator John Jancek said he made the play-call on 4th-and-14 one too many times. Said it was the same play call that produced a sack..

@wesrucker247: Refreshing to hear #Vols DC John Jancek be candid about Florida meltdown. Said he went to the well too many times on a call and got burned.

Nice to see. Hope he changes it up and does better. Glad he takes responsibility as well.

Wonder what he would say about Georgia and candy in 13 driving late to beat us? Or Florida last year? Oklahoma this year. I'm seeing a pattern with his defense. They can't hold leads late.

I just watched that play again...I have to say it wasn't such a bad playcall given the situation..but the players on the field were way too tired to execute. I understand we aren't that deep, but I would rather stick a less talented but fresh player out there. I mean the receiver just stopped and turned around to make the catch and our guys were 5 yards off. Hopefully, we'll learn to start passing the ball to extend drives and keep the defense fresh. Good to hear Jancek be humble though.

I was disappointed at how little pressure we were able to generate on Florida's QB. I told someone sitting with me that the QB did not have a single grass stain on his jersey mid 2nd quarter. Their "young and thrown together" OL won the day in the trenches IMO.

Get the kind of pressure that we expected and we win that thing by a mile. Gotta give their "youth and inexperience" credit for making plays all over the field.

If Sutton were on the field then I would agree with your statement. He wasnt. We should have unleashed the pass rush, but we didnt.

And their coaches credit for getting their young talent in a position to win the game. Back to back weeks Florida won close games. People will say it's talent depth luck whatever it's coaching. Florida and Oklahoma never panicked when down. We looked worried even with leads late. This continues to trouble me....

I agree. CJancek called a good game. The announcer even referenced that 'he was in the OC's head'. The best part is that we did not make huge gambles and kept control on the game with exception of the '4th and" plays, which were good O plays and D mis-ques

Barnett basically sacked him on the play before, then the next play we rush 3. Bizzare

That was my thought. Belicheck could be back there, but if the players take poor angles and mis tackles/ get out of posiition it doesn't matter. I know that goes back to coaching Mon-Fri but if your D underperforms your playcalling looks bad.

"13" that team had no talent, last year most of the talent were freshmen all over the field and this year they are more experienced but lack quality behind the ones. That's my honest evaluation. Meaning you need to look at more than just plays called. The defense is getting better overall but we have some weaknesses, specifically db, and lb. we can't cover a TE, or a triple cover wr on a corner route that got us beat.

We should have rushed four, and played zone. I don't really have a problem with the play call. The play just wasn't executed well (no shiznizzle right?)

That is one of those plays that gets lost in the shuffle. He got the ball off just before his knee hit down. If we could have gotten that for a sack, it would have been about 4th and 17 and they would have had to burn their last timeout....which would have let us catch our breath and get on the same page.

TN won time of possession by almost 4 minutes. We only had one 3 n Out the whole 2nd half if I'm not mistaken. The defense should not have been tired. If they were then there is a serious problem with conditioning.

It was a bad play call. Even still 3 Defenders were in position to prevent the play form going for a TD but they lost the ball and got turned around.

Which makes one cringe at the thought; what happens when their young and thrown together o-line becomes bigger, stronger, deeper and experienced?

Then our DLine should challenge them to circle of life games and beat the living crap out of them.

Wasn't Barnett out this play as well? I refuse to go back and rewatch.

Barnett was on the field. While watching live I felt like he got held when he went to slap the tackles hands. After watching again it was close. I feel like either send the spy man to pressure or drop him in coverage no need to spy the qb there imo.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts then maybe we would have beat Florida.

We only rushed 3. The 4th (Weatherd) didn't rush at all but was spying Grier although there was zero chance of a QB draw. Reeves-Maybin I assume was watching Taylor. Defensive call was just awful. Went to the well one to many times is BS.

I know we only rushed 3.

I agree, there was a zero percent chance of Florida running a draw. However, I have seen lots of times where a quarterback scrambled out of pocket and converted 4th and long.

The defensive play call was not that bad of a call. With the game the way it was, we probably could have blitzed and not got any pressure.

Florida converted, but the defensive play call is not the reason for the touchdown.
