Jake Retzlaff? Any chance that CJH is interested?

I thought I read somewhere that his camp was relaying that he was leaning towards transferring becuase he had an offer on the table from another major program in need of a QB with experience on their roster.

Part of me wonders if the team is Syracuse? Maybe Mizzou?
Sounds like UCLA to me 😎

Innocent until proven guilty, but the timing is bad and we don’t need the distraction. If they kick the tires on him, it tells me they aren’t satisfied with what we have. That would be disappointing.

Set to transfer from BYU. Do we go after him? Do we even want him with his off field issues?

  • 2024 Season:
    • Passing: 2,947 yards, 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 57.9% completion percentage.
    • Rushing: 417 yards, 6 touchdowns.

I have just finished an article about the BYU QB, Jake Retzlaff called BYJew on College GameDay when they did a special about his playing during Yom Kippur or whatever you call Judaism New Years, is being forced to transfer. They list the VOLS as the #1 likeliest destination. What have you guys been told? 5 potential landing spots for BYU transfer QB Jake Retzlaff

I understand you have to take what you can get sometimes. How would it look if we took this guy after just getting Aguilar? Timing is not good for him to learn the system. He has played in a power 5 conference that Aguilar has not played in. I doubt it happens...

Zero Chance in hell, especially with what the accusations are. Not a distraction we need, plus I believe Aguilar will be our starting QB with Merk backing him up. Obviously none of us know what happened and guys get accused and set up every day with this type of situation. It's unfortunate and hopefully he is innocent and catches on somewhere. He would end up in Tuscalooser before we took him.

Yeah if he was going to transfer somewhere that he might not end up starting, I think he’d just eat the 7 games and stay at BYU.

Much more likely he already knows where and they just have to dot i’s and cross t’s. Though I hope it’s not the Cuse, even if he’s short on prep time the kid is a pretty good QB from what I saw last year.
Can’t stay at BYU…. Kicked out of school

He wasn't kicked out, he left on his own. If he stayed he would have to serve a 7 game suspension for violating the school's Code Of Honor.
To be clear the Code violation was having premarital sex. I wonder how many other players on BYU would face a 7 game suspension for that.

The Pete Thamel article lists the number 1 destination as Tennessee. If the piece was put out by some click bait site, I would brush it off as nonsense.
Thamel is Danny White's media guy. He breaks all the big Tennessee news nationally. Im not saying there is anything to it but Thamel doesnt throw schools in an article because he needs the clicks

I would be surprised for sure, considering we aren’t exactly desperate for a qb

I wouldn't be totally opposed to it. Surely out of 4 bodies, we can find a guy who can not only play but play well. Competition is a very, very good thing.
