I’m a bit perplexed we’ve not pursued a quality, experienced FCS QB since Leavitt and Pribula came off the board. That’s essentially what JA was.

💯

He had some flaws, but you dont throw for 3000 plus in back to back seasons and suck, especially for a school like App St. There are guys out there. Find em.

This is the route I want to go. Very low risk and very high reward. Maybe they’ve pursued one but I can’t imagine not getting one of thats the case. I think the Southern Illinois QB, DJ Williams, is worth a look. Great runner, haven’t seen enough to know how well he throws the deep ball. Not an FCS guy but alive also been talking about Owen McCown is capable. He had some stinkers but I think it’s important to remember what Heupel does with quarterbacks and think about what some of these guys do could in this system. We don’t need an elite talent, necessarily.

I think we have arrived taking on a project this point. Maybe a serviceable backup to push our top guys. Looks like he has good size at least
Maybe, but there's also still a of time to talk to agents, work on numbers and details, etc and then get a kid into the portal before it closes. We aren't developing relationships here. It's business and that can happen rather quickly. Not gonna wave the white flag yet. Heupel might surprise me again.

Because there isn't one in the portal. Have you looked at the portal listings? It's nothing but scraps and young players with no experience looking to start somewhere. CJH doesn't seem to want to tamper with someone else's QB that isn't in the portal.

Well then his “not wanting to tamper”stance may come back to bite him in a big way because a QB with some experience is critical for 2026 even if Faizon or George beat him out.

Curious, do expect me to believe this is based on ethics? From a coach that has a lineman go down like his leg has been chopped off after 90% of our extra points?

They were certainly tampering last year after the Nico Fiasco. We saw multiple reports of QBs that Heupel had at least reached out too. Why not this year?

I think Garcia would need a waiver. He's definitely been around. Oregon transfer QB Bryson Beaver just committed to UGA. He will be the fifth QB on their roster.
