Absolutely unthinkable that the greatest and most historical program in college women's basketball would utterly collapse in a matter of days is totally mind-blowing. This is a case study in program engineering. Seemingly a good strategic coach with a unique system, but who lacks power 4 experience, high-level media savvy, and a young coaching staff that lacks serious SEC experience. Both the coach and the staff recruited a really good class that, when combined with returning players, made a good, but not elite, team. However, lack of discipline was a persistent problem, whether it was Ruby or players supposedly being late for practices, on-court outbursts, verbal conflicts in the huddle during games, or a lack of composure. This is coaching, and the coach admitted as much. The players are responsible and must be held accountable to the university, the team, the established culture, and the legacy that is the University of Tennessee Lady Vols. Any player who does not uphold that standard should not have the opportunity to use the portal, but the door. If you're not all in, then get all out. The same goes for any assistant coach who may have undermined the head coach, who may not have seen any of it until it was too late. However, as a coach, you don't say to press, and the world, that your players are "quitters." You just lost your locker room, your team. The blame for this mess, this madness, falls on the head coach, assistant coaches, and the players. If the AD is going to keep our coach, please provide her with the necessary resources to put a team together that has a chance to make the tournament. Wow, I feel like I'm a rogue episode of the "Twilight Zone."
