Jaida Civil, Deniya Prawl, and Mia Pauldo named 2024-2025 McDonald’s All-Americans

All of the Nyla moaners will get there chance to compare them as they play together! But All star games tend to be more one on one and fewer assists. 🤷‍♂️

There’s nothing to compare bud. Deniya Prawl last game was nationally televised against a Top 5 team and she was unguardable in a blowout victory with her Top 10-15 IMG squad.
Mia Pauldo is a dawg. She’s elite and a natural born winner. Jaida Civil might win MVP in this game if she’s on that night. Civil ESPN ranking is about to get a bump when the rankings are updated soon.
Congrats to Brooks, no disrespect to her and I hope she has an incredible college career.

No. They're medium small to very small.

IMO, they may bring in a very athletic post in the portal if one of those rarities is available. But I believe they're chomping at the bit to try the full "system" next year. Positionless, athletic, and dependent on points off defense and shot volume. It will be interesting for sure!
How about shooters, all of our shooters are graduating?

I don't care how good/great a girl is, if she has no size she will be just an average SEC player. Much like in boxing, where they have weight divisions for a reason size is really important on the basketball court. Just look around the SEC and other really good programs, they all have size. Yeah bring in a "big". One big a great team does not make. (not in the SEC)

Fair question. Put on the film and don’t let a poster mislead you that has an agenda.

It’s not about a true inside type when majority of WBB is based on the guard and forward positions.

Deniya Prawl is 6’2 and has a solid build. She is lengthy and moves fluidly for a wing with her size. Think Sellers from Maryland and Hall from South Carolina in terms of length but with a wider stature.

Jaida Civil is 6’0 and almost a clone in height and stature to Talaysia Cooper. She is also a physical and aggressive defensive player. She moves with the quickness of Cooper and plays physical like Jordan Horston.

Lauren Hurst is 6’2 and rangy. On all her team photos from the recruiting visit with our current team, you can see she has more height than any of them with the exception of Jillian Hollingshead who is 6’5 and Lazaria Spearman who is 6’4.

I wouldn’t be surprised though to see Hurst grow an inch or two between now and the time she comes to Tennessee. She might be 6’3 next fall.

The Pauldo twins are short at 5’6. There’s a plethora of 5’5 to 5’7 guards in WBB. They are strong and aggressive athletes that can flat out play defense.
Either could step on a college court today and play defense at a high level.

Again, there’s plenty of film. The rankings don’t lie. These five players are bringing unlimited potential to Rocky Top.
Not to argue, but how many 5'6" really good guards can you remember in the SEC?

Mia and Mya Paulson pg. 5’5”
Deniya Prawl 6’1” Wing
Jaida Civil 6’0” guard
Lauren Hurst 6’2” Wing

None are post type players. But in high school anyone over 6 feet is usually an inside type of player especially on defense! JMO
I understand what you are saying. But in the I just think we need to be taller and bigger to be at the top of the SEC pile. An example was the Texas, our taller ladies just bounced off of Texas players all game long.

How is this related to the #1/#2 ranked HS recruiting class that features three McDonald’s AA?
CKC has said they have approximately two scholarships left to add players via the transfer portal.
These high school players we have committed/signed were recruited by multiple top Big 12, Big Ten, ACC, and SEC schools.

It’s your opinion nothing wrong with that. To answer your question I’m not concerned with it Mia Pauldo is a Top 10 talent in her class. Mya Pauldo has a very high basketball IQ and is an elite defender. The staff knows what they’re getting and that’s two very talented players. If the main factor was height then the men’s team would have missed out on Zakai Zeigler.

The last time I looked which has been a week or so MIa Pauldo had made 29 of 59 three point attempts this season. Mya was around 40 percent as well. I need to check those stats again see where they are today.

not concerned,,,we only need a traditional post if we are going to run a traditional offense,,,,otherwise it is up to our scorers and shooters to force the opposition to matchup with us instead of the opposite....Size will not matter (See Zakai Zeigler of the men's team,,,who is not much taller than the wonder twins). There is an adage in sports:
"If you're good enough, you're big enough"

Regardless of size we outrebounded all those teams except Texas and that was fairly close. If our perimeter players had shot the ball well enough Texas, LSU, Oklahoma would've been wins. This incoming class can shoot the ball the Pauldo twins are close to 50 percent three point shooters in high school. Mia has over 250 makes and counting. We certainly need to add one post player out of the portal to go with Latham and Spearman for sure. Were going to be a lot better team next season than this one.

Looking forward to watching these three in the McDonald’s AA game. All 5 of the Top 50 signees are having outstanding senior seasons. I’ve been watching their high school games and their talent jumps off the screen.
Every prospect is an ideal fit in Coach Caldwell’s system.
This is a fun year. So much more basketball to watch on both the high school and college level for Tennessee fans.
GBO!

To bad Mya couldn't make it because she is on the same level as these players. She was dealt that injury setback, but she is back playing at a very high level this season. Anyone thinking she is an add on just to get her sister is in for a reality check she can really play as well.

Right. I watch the twins and our HS commits games when they broadcast on NFHS network and it’s remarkable how talented. They are not only skilled athletically but have elite leadership skills on and off the court.
All players are thriving in a system that is similar to what CKC runs at Tennessee.
It’s one thing to be talented but each of these players are so unselfish and have a team first mentality.
I hope every player is able to make a smooth transition in year 1 at Tennessee because if they do this could be a special recruiting class.

don't count yer chickens yet! Remember, Justine P was a mickey D too.
Yes some can't make it at the next level. I think she could've if she wasn't so afraid of contact. It would be ok if she could sit out on the perimeter and make 40 percent of her threes, but that shot has abandoned her as well. You never know how a player will react at the next level.

I think she could have if she had had a coach who knew how to use her

I could get you a list, but put 5-6 Hannah Hidalgo in the SEC and she wins player of the year. The SEC has had many highy successful 5-4/5-6 guards who have been very successful going back farther than Shannon Bobbitt and we all know what she was capable of.
