Looks like we're only transferring in PWO's now. Apparently, the theory that we're capping our schollys as self-imposed punishment has some legs.

The dirty little secret that state-run isn't really talking about much.

The dirty little secret that state-run isn't really talking about much.
Hyams talked about it last week in detail. He reported that we gave up 12 scholarships in 2021 which left us at 73. But that cap applies through spring so we can't add transfar players back in until then. (I assume that means spring semester). After that time we can start adding players from the transfer portal up to 7, so we will still be short of 85. I thought it was an important story but I only heard it discussed once. Credit where credit is due, Hyams seemed to do a good job on this.

Once again, a heartfelt salute of appreciation for the man who, through his incredible personnel acumen, made this possible. Certainly earned every penny of that $1.3M kiss he got on the way out the door:

Between how few scholarship players we had this past season and capping our scholarships in 22, SURELY that is punishment enough considering Will Wade is still HC in Baton Rouge.
Nobody cares about LSU Basketball, not even LSU. There’s a lot of bitterness towards Vol Football. When, “It’s like we took their soul.”, that creates hard feelings. We’ve been doing that since the 1800s, there is ton of Ill will directed towards the Vols.

Pearce was moved to a 5 star by who?
In a rankings update, Tennessee signee James Pearce was upgraded to a five-star prospect by On3. The 6-5, 220 pound edge rusher was previously the 57th ranked prospect in the nation, but has now moved all the way up to No. 11 overall.
No. 11: EDGE James Pearce
School:
Charlotte (N.C.) Vance
Status: Signed with Tennessee
On3 NIL Valuation: $20,000

“Twitched-up EDGE prospect who has an argument as the most gifted pass rusher in the 2022 cycle. Pairs a long, lean build with top notch first-step quickness. Screams off the edge both as a standing rusher and from a three-point stance. Shows curvilinear movement with his ability to bend around the edge. Has elite closing speed and is a high-level finisher in the backfield. Physical and embraces contact. Has a strong anchor relative to his current size (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) and converts speed to power as a pass rusher. Highly, highly disruptive in multiple ways. Disrupts passing lanes on a regular basis in addition to forcing fumbles, coming down with interceptions and scoring several defensive touchdowns. Plays with an outstanding effort level on a play-to-play basis. Tracks down plays in backside pursuit. Runs like a wide receiver, which should not be a surprise as he began his career as an offensive skill player. Has put together a phenomenal final two seasons at North Carolina’s top high school program, totaling over 30 sacks as a junior and senior.” — Charles Power
