Even if Joey were to win the Heisman, I don't really know how high he gets drafted as a guy that will be 25 shortly after the draft and whose athletic profile is a far cry from being elite. He probably compares favorably to Dillon Gabriel athletically, who was a 3rd rounder. If he gets graded that highly, he should go. If he is graded as a 5th rounder or later, he will likely make more money coming back to TN for another year.Yeah in this new college era. If you can keep a known commodity at QB for 1 more year then like you say. Let the chips fall.
As I said in another thread you may see schools spending money on QBs with experience rather than paying them $2million to sit. Spend money on freshman that can play day 1 positions.
If Joey is getting good NFL grades then he probably should roll the dice
Yes!!!!!Maybe, maybe not. I would be willing to bet GMac thought when he came here that Nico would be likely gone after GMac's freshman year and he'd be given a chance to start.
Honestly though, you can't worry about it. If JA can come back and he wants to, you let everything fall where it may. JA is a top level QB in this system and he'd give us an amazing shot to win back to back Nattys.
It's not about "rather". It's about his eligibility is done after this year.Anyone saying they’d rather he move on is stupid and they have a very poor memory.
The goal in recruiting great HS QBs like GMac and Faizon is to eventually have a great college QB like Joey, but it doesn’t always work out. How have people already forgotten how things worked out with Nico? I’m definitely not saying Faizon is Nico, but he’s unproven. Joey is proven. If Joey coming back runs off Faizon, so be it. That is the world we live in. The days of having QBs lined up for 3-4 years are over. When you find yourself with a great QB you hang on to him as long as possible. Period.
Just remember what happened when Hendon had a second year as a Heupel QB. He can take a quarterback that fits into his system and greatly multiply their effectiveness the longer he has them. A Joey Agulair starting after a full year under Heupel could be the stuff of legends.
