Thing is...it doesn't really infect kids/young people. Not sure what shutting schools down does.

Kids dont die from it. Kids spread it. Most kids have parents. Some even have grandparents.

Look at flu progression - there is a significant decrease in new diagnoses every year when school closes for Christmas. Opens back in January and it starts bumping back up again. Those kids don't die either, though the flu seems harder on kids than the Wuhan virus.

What I've read about this virus is that kids aren't really catching it. If they don't catch it to begin with, how do they spread it?

It infects children, they just don’t have a strong reaction to it. This creates an issue where a child is infected, isn’t showing symptoms so he isn’t isolated, then unknowingly infects parents or grandparents that have life threatening reactions to the virus.
