I have hear from multiple boards. (IlliniBoard.com/SIUInsider/TheVille) That the Coaching Job for Indiana Basketball is down to 4 possible coaches. And that the #1 is Rick Patino, followed closely by The one and only Bruce Pearl. I have also heard the likes of Keno Davis (Drake), Tim Jankovich (Illinois State), and my personal favorite Steve Alford (New Mexico-recently ran away from Iowa). :lolabove:

If anyone has Information about this please respond. I Hope the raise I am hearing were giving Bruce is enough to keep his name out of these talks. GO VOLS, BEAT BUTLER!!!

Sorry, I just got back from Spring Break and havn't been online in a couple weeks to check this board. I just keep hearing Bruce Pearl being passed around. (My Friends from home are Indiana fans, and they are drooling over him right now.)

If Pitino is a possibility and they're drooling over Pearl, then you might find some new friends with whom you can discuss hoops.

I heard about that earlier today, I am only scared of him going there because of the recruiting. But I think this raise should keep his name out of future talk.

Fans are not ADs and not responsible for hires. People can talk all they want. We did here. Nobody expected who we got.

Scott Skiles will be the next Indiana coach- Here is what Skiles has going for him. He'd probably be fairly cheap since he's still getting paid for by the Bulls, he has Big Ten experience since he played at Michigan State, he's always talking about Jud Heathcoate and how he influenced his coaching and.....he lives in Bloomington. He was also born and raised in Indiana.
There's no way Bruce leaves especially since he already turned down a job last year in Iowa where he was an assistant coach before. Stop worrying, it doesnt make sense. Bruce going to IU talk should stop now

Am sure this has already been said but I will give my opinion. John Adams was on with Finebaum and when asked about the pearl situation, he said that "Indiana cannot throw three million dollars at a coach." He said that it would take the NBA to lure him away from Tennessee, that he loves it in Knoxville and they are willing to give him the opportunity to do things his way.

Idon't see Bruce being an NBA type coach. There it is the players with the personality and the coach is the "Silent Leader" strong leader, but does it from the shadows almost. College it is the coach that is the face of the program, that is what Pearl does best.

Please kill this thread as well. Just because somebody says something on an IU board doesnt make it true.

Hi. An IU fan over here. Congrats on the win today.

Regarding Pearl, there is a lot of talk that Pearl is high on the list. I think any reasonable person would conclude that if it came down purely to money, there is no way IU could compete with UT.

The question is whether IU, if indeed interested, would give Pearl a reasonable offer that would be satisfactory. IU has certainly been cheap in the past, but there is a lot of talk that interest is high now. We'll see.

But as to the list cited in this thread, neither Alford or the Illinois State guy is anywhere near considered a legitimate candidate.

Yeah I hadn't seen that 1 before.

I really wonder sometimes where people get their info

....Pat Summitt is the big dogette at UT, followed by UT football, then...oh the mens team.

I enjoy watching the LV sometimes but to put them above fball and now mens bball is pushing it a bit

Rick Pitino is not even on the that IU wants to speak with. Pearl is numero uno, Alford and Skiles are not on the list either. There is a committee of 12 people who will make the hire(one of the 12 is a friend of the family so I'm getting all kinds of great info.)

He mentioned that IU will ask to speak to Pearl but his assumption is that he will not leave UT because IU will not whip out the checkbook and compete with UT as far as pay goes.

Look for IU to speak to Pearl but I don't see it going past that...in fact, I'll be surprised if he even sits down and talks to them.

Hey, Hamilton...WHIP OUT THE CHECKBOOK NOW!

We should probably check attendance the past two years between LV and the Mens teams. :p

Playing devil's advocate here, but if Indiana offers him more money why would he not take it?

What guarantee is there that he will wait for Mike Hamilton to make him a counter offer of more money?

That blog was funny. The whole "Do we really want a guy like this coaching our team?"

God Forbid a single guy hangs out with girls.

As long as he isn't involved in abuse or criminal activity, I think he should be able to screw all the college chicks he wants.

Hes loyal to Tennessee about as loyal as he is to UW-Milwaukee.

Your forgetting we stole him from a school that loved him by giving him more money and a more prestigous job.

If IU gives him more money and IU is a more prestigious job then we have to accept it and move on with a new HC.:ermm:
