and I am going to brag about my birthday present, which is the last 5 seconds of this video. My son had some issues with laziness and eating. As you can see, he still has a little pouch, but you should have seen where he was headed. His first NAGA tourney in March was really brutal, as he was beaten badly 3 straight times. I expected him to quit, but he didn't. He lost 8 lbs since March to compete against smaller kids. He did this on his own and by us eating better and helping. I lost 6 myself. I didn't force any extra running or Todd Marinovich dad type stuff. I just reminded him of his goal and had him write down the things he needed to do to get there. He hasn't been good at a few things he has tried, and his low self esteem was affecting us all. This video is his first fight this weekend. The last 5 seconds are something I'll never forget, and Ethan and I both needed it as well. I wanted to share because I am so proud of him, and I think he'll remember today for the rest of his life, as will I.

And I share with the zoners, who are my people.

You must be very proud. He appears to be a great guy.

He felt bad about not shaking hands, so he went eight over to him. I think he was in adrenaline shock and just wanted to see me. He's not even close to the best in the beginner level. I just think too many kids today tend to quit things too quickly and he has been one of those kids. It makes me more happy because i truly believe that if a kid sees hard work pay off, it helps them later in life, and he worked hard.

True that. He's learned something important about himself.

So your son is a tough guy now?

Nah. This was more about setting a goal, working hard, attaining, and building confidence. We didn't know how it would work out, which is why he came over and hugged me. There are tougher kids in his class, but it has toughened him up, mentally and physically.

Forgive me if I'm completely wrong here, but someone in the zone had a kid that had mild autism. Was that you, sparty?

Very true, it's a shame more parents don't realize that.

Happy late birthday

yes, that is my oldest son. He does bjj too, but isn't really physically able to compete in an event yet. He will one day. It just takes an aggression that isn't currently in him.

Thanks JG. Thought about responding to you in the ff the other day. I got no beef with you and apologize for being a dick and throwing a couple of your past comments back at you.

It's all in fun, the day a message board makes me mad is the day I quit posting on them.
