It's different this year.

Ok few things I see in this thread.
1. I hope nobody storms the field.
2. TN definitely has the horses to stomp some Gator heads! TN 45 FL28 (my no way an expert at anything guess.)
3. There have only been a few teams out of the last 15 or so years where UT was actually the better team.
4. (This one is probably about the thread title) It's different because I see a program that feels like they can compete with anyone. The coach is competent and pushes that charisma and drive to his players. It feels good to have the confidence that UT is going to compete for 60 minutes. The product on the field is fun to watch. It feels different because, as fans, we haven't had the opportunity to feel good about our favorite program in such a long time. Not going to lie I was 15 in '98! I want to feel that again, and it seems that things are on track for a bright future! That's how it's different!

Yea, I was 12 back then when Tn was great. 2001 was a great year too and really Fulmers demise if he wins the lsu game and wins the nc he would have survived coaching longer.

Our defense is absolutely good enough to shut them completely down.

People are always focused on our offense. Or DL is really starting to control the LOS.
Or DBs are playing physical.
ush
It's still early and we've played two cupcakes.
Florida has played 2 Top 15 teams.

They'll come ready, but it's just not enough this year. We should have beaten Pitt 55-21.

Our offense will start to be more efficient this game, because our defense will give them chance after chance to do so
you are seriously stating you "DL is really starting to control the LOS" ? You admittedly have played 2 terrible cupcakes and a depleted Pitt team that is a terrible rushing team and you had to struggle to win even though they were playing with a one legged back up quarterback. What is the world has given you the confidence that you can shut any decent sec team "completely down". Any good SEC is going to expose the Tn defense and its lack of depth and if they shut down or slow down the Tn offense the game will be over.

Hope to destroy them. If we get up by 21 we need to start going for two point conversions just to salt the wound.

Someone with a better memory can confirm, but didn't Tennessee storm the field after beating Vanderbilt in 1985 to clinch the Sugar Bowl? I know it rained sugar cubes from the stands.

Also thought that was the case for 1989 Auburn, as well.
Yes they did. Who would have thunk we would celebrate a victory over Vanderbilt? I wandered around the field for a bit in full uniform taking in the absurdity of the scene.

Agreed. At this point bearing Florida is expected - and this doesn’t seem to be a good Florida team so storming the field seems excessive. Don’t give them the satisfaction. Alabama … perhaps? But again why give anyone the satisfaction until we win the SEC or NC … ? Course that’s just my opinion.
How long has it been since Tenn beat a #1/2 team? I could easily see storming it.

I did not read❤

If we hadn’t let Emori Jones run for a billion yards last year I would feel much better. Richardson’s running ability still scares me but our offense should light up the scoreboard regardless.

If the UT offense gets in a flow then I’ll be confident. I’m afraid AR15 is going to run all over this defense. If he starts scrambling for first down after first down and making big plays it’s gonna be a long day. Because that will open up the passing game and the Vols will be playing from behind. All that being said, I think it’s gonna be a 4 quarter ball game. As everyone has already said, forget what you’ve seen from Florida thus far. It won’t be what you see on Saturday. If McElwain’s teams and last year’s team can beat the Vols then this Florida team has at least a 50/50 shot.

Can't put my finger on it.

I'm still highly critical of Heupels offense.

Florida is a bad team this year. And yes we absolutely are snake bit by Florida.

But for this season it doesn't matter.
Florida is about to lose by 30 points to us.
It's not something I ever thought I would see!

Our defense is going be lights out. Bru, Tillman and Jalin are going to out on a show.

40-10 Vols 🤔
You are critical of Heupel’s offense but have us scoring 40 points on UF’s defense?

190 rushing against WVU (5.8YPC) and 238 rushing against WMU (4.6YPC) Pitt isn’t a terrible rushing team. We poured it on them. They had a hobbling qb because we took the first one out and almost took the 2nd one out because the defense was relentless.

Cope And seethe.

To be fair, they weren't celebrating beating Vandy...they were celebrating that SEC title.
I know, it was just a strange atmosphere considering who we played and the fact that it wasn't even a good game. (We won 30 to 0) Anyone who didn't know the story would have been mystified. I was happy because it ensured us an all expense paid trip to New Orleans on New Year's Eve. Most of that post was tongue in cheek.

Good point. I wouldn’t complain if it happened and it would be awesome. I guess my point is more that winning a single “game” is only one game even if it’s a BIG WIN for us. Winning a conference or even the East for that matter is a statement. But fans gonna do what fans gonna do regardless and I’m OK with that.
