Most of you know that my best friend is a UF alum. I live in Houston and he lives in Nashville. After the drubbing at the hands of a bunch of freshman and sophmores, I fully expected a barrage of taunting e-mails and phone calls. What I got was far, far worse. One phone call. One call in which he basically apologized for how inept our team is. That's what we've been reduced to, a victory over us is no longer the subject of gloating, but we are now to be pitied. In years past we ripped each other backwards and forwards, up and down. Now I can tell he was embarrassed for me. Thank you Phil Fulmer.

I have waited a few days to really weigh in on what happened Saturday and as it turns out, I just dont have the energy. It was what it was....one team a national title contender now and for years to come.....the other a program in decline.

We are irrelevant. I have posted this before, but the thing that hurts most about the loss is that no body in the national media seemed all that surprised.

The joke is definitely on the program. Everybody but a handful of people now know that CPF is not getting the job done.

Steep decline i might add. Have you been listening to phil after the game. We need to "stay the course"there is alot of football left (yeah unforunately). We were caught out of position. The team seems responsive after the azz whipping. Man the guy needs a tape recorder i would get tired of repeating myself.

Is there any chance that Phil takes the high road and bows out with grace and dignity?

In 2005 I heard some rumors that a graceful bow out was still a possible solution. Now, I am afraid that he actually believes all the perfect storm crap. He has isolated himself from the critics, and still has enough "yes" men around him to reinforce his thinking.

I would imagine the next step will be dissent with Cut or Chavis when he tries to throw them under the bus. This is going to get ugly, but I think it will end this year.

I would lose all respect for the man if this scenario plays out.It would then bring his character into question and verify what we all already know, that he threw johnny and randy under the bus.

You said it right...UT Football is now an embarresment. Our program is in decline and it's not like we're playing good and just getting beat. Tennessee fans are truly embarressed now, and that's a shame. Something has to be done, and soon.

I live in Florida and not one of my Florida friends even mentioned the game to me on Monday.

Said when our opponents have been reduces to pity for us.

I wonder if Phil thinks he can sacrifice Chavis the way he did Sanders and all will be forgiven?

By the way, I hope the fact that we got run out of gainesville by a very, very young Florida team istn lost on anyone. The future is bleak my friends.

This is an interesting post. I too have been noticing that my other SEC friends aren't ribbing but instead telling me to keep my chin up and "the pressure is off of you guys now".......what in the hell is that supposed to mean? We are now one of those teams that just goes out and plays each game as an individual event not tied to anything greater like an SEC championship or a national championship. We are Ole Miss. Welcome to mediocrity.

That is not a point to overlook. Without drastic change we are staring a Bammer type streak right in the eyeball.

It's funny - the same thing happened to me yesterday. One of my co-workers is a huge Florida fan (grew up there, went to undergrad and grad there, etc.) so we've had taunting going back and forth. Nothing nasty though. I was sitting at my desk yesterday reading this site when they walked up behind me. They glanced at the screen, back at me, and then their eyes went to the floor. They didn't even say one word.

I hate this. I hate being PITIED.

Rex, you missed all the fun the past few days... its been a real party around here!

You won't be surprised to know that now, I would say, 95% of this board is ready for the change in regime. the previous fence sitters, myself included, have generally all fallen off. Only the hopelessly optimistic or down right delusional still believe Fulmer can get the job done.

rex, don't feel bad, i too have some gator friends, and this year, i sent them an email basically saying that they weren't allowed to come over to watch the game this year (they were over the last two years, and i just couldn't bear to watch them walk out of my house with smiles on their faces, again).

and, they took it in stride. and strange enough, they didn't even call to gloat after the game. which i thought was strange given my denial in to my household.

i got to work yesterday fired up the email, and there were no less than 20 emails from my so called friend giving his "game recap" for each and every FL score and TN mis hap. each one with yet another barb of sarcasm about how great Tebow is and how bad we are.

it was actually a very well played card on his part, and all i could do was give him the compliment of playing it so well.

so i feel your pain.
